Confucius had many students, one of whom was Chen Kang. Once, he saw the teacher talking with his only son, Kong Li. Because they were too far away, he couldn't hear clearly, so he was curious. On another occasion, he saw the teacher giving a lecture to his son alone, and the teacher looked serious. This time, his brain was wide open, thinking that the teacher was cooking a small stove for his only son and left a hand for their apprentice.
Chen Kang is a man who can't back down. He asked Kong Li directly. Kong Li said that when he passed the yard, he saw his father, and his father asked him if he had read the Book of Songs. Knowing that his son didn't, he said that reading the Book of Songs helped to express his thoughts. On another occasion, he also saw his father in the yard.
Father asked him if he had read the Book of Rites, but he was not angry until he read it. If he learns the Book of Rites well, he will understand the truth of being a man. Hearing this, Chen Kang misunderstood the teacher, and the teacher didn't hide anything.
Chen Kang swept away the haze and became happy. I told Kong Li that through communication with him, I learned three things, one is to learn the Book of Songs, the other is to learn the Book of Rites, and the third is to know that the teacher is an aboveboard person and treats his son and students equally. In this story, later generations summed up the story of Kong Li's court, and also regarded Lei Yue Gate as a place for education. The classroom where we study can also be said to be a carp farm.
Extended data:
Confucius House is a combination of residence and official residence. There is an inner house door at the boundary between the residence and the official residence. There is a special color mural in the door, which depicts a unicorn-like beast named "Greed".
In the mural, "Guigreed" is surrounded by colorful clouds, all of which are its treasures. But "ghost greed" was not satisfied, and he still tried to swallow the sun with his mouth open. Finally, he was so greedy that he could not bear it and eventually died in the sea.
This painting on the wall of Confucius' house is called "Don't covet" and was painted in the Ming Dynasty. Its intention is very obvious, which is to use the ugly image of "greed" as a family motto to warn future generations not to be insatiable and indulge themselves.
When the duke of Confucius' host feast asked craftsmen to draw "no greed", he also made a special family rule: whenever the duke of feast came out of the inner hall and passed by the wall, the attendants shouted, "Grandpa is too greedy!" On the surface, it was polite to inform the duke of feast that he was going out, but in fact, it was to remind him that after going out, he must put morality first and maintain a good image of cleanliness and frugality.
