The name of the wooden fish
The name of Muyu was first seen in the revised rules written by the monk Huaihai Zen Master in the Tang Dynasty: Muyu, according to legend, often wakes up day and night, and is struck by carved wooden statues, so it is confusing. Accordingly, wooden fish should be created by Buddhist monks. There is a saying that warns monks not to forget to practice day and night. It was said before that the predecessor of Muyu was a simple wooden block called Muyue, and later it was carved into the image of a fish called Muyu. Because it is not included in the court music, the official history of the past dynasties has not been included.
