Dujiangyan ancient couplets

Six words in one thousand, the lives of the people in fourteen counties are heaven, all of which are given by the public;

Wan Li belongs to a pool, and eight hundred miles of Qingcheng Mountain is fertile soil, all from the satrap.

This couplet praised Li Bing, the digger of Dujiangyan in China and the county magistrate of Qin Shu County.

Li Bing, the magistrate, built Dujiangyan, and since then Sichuan has become a land of abundance and fertile land. The couplets express the author's sincere praise for Li Bing's painstaking efforts to build Dujiangyan for the people.
