Six Chapters of a Floating Life is an autobiographical collection of essays written by Shen Fu, a native of Changzhou, in the 13th year of Jiaqing in Qing Dynasty (1808). The author was 46 years old. Shen Fu had a rough life, but he had a deep affection with his wife Chen Yun. After Chen Yun's death, Shen Fu was even more displaced.
