Kunming University was founded on March 3rd, 1984. In February 2003, Kunming University merged the former Kunming Light Industry School, Kunming Urban and Rural Construction School and Kunming Lixin Accounting School. These three technical secondary schools were founded after the founding of the People's Republic of China. Therefore, the merged Kunming University Library is unlikely to have ancient books. When I was working in the library of Kunming University, I went there several times and came to the conclusion that there were no ancient books in the library of Kunming University. Although there are some thread-bound books in the library of Kunming University, they were all purchased from ordinary bookstores in recent twenty years. These thread-bound books have been printed since the 1980s, so they are not ancient books, let alone rare books. Therefore, due to historical reasons, the original Kunming University Library did not have a decent treasure of the town hall.
Kunming Teachers College was established in April of 198 1. 200 1 1 5. Kunming Teachers College merged the former Kunming Normal School and the former Kunming Kindergarten Normal School. Kunming Kindergarten Normal School was founded in 1978, that is, after the founding of the People's Republic of China, so it is unlikely that there are ancient books. However, Kunming Normal School was founded in 1905, that is, in the thirty-first year of Guangxu. In addition, in the process of searching for information, the author found that many academies all over the country were converted into normal schools in the late Qing Dynasty. There were three academies in Kunming in the late Qing Dynasty. Two years ago, the author witnessed the seal of Wuhua Academy in the ancient books of Kunming Normal University Library. So Kunming Normal School may be 1905 rebuilt from Wuhua College. Therefore, there is a great possibility that the original library of Kunming Normal School contains ancient books. A few years ago, I heard from the original library of Kunming Normal School that there were about 2,000 ancient books in their library.
Two years ago, due to the propaganda work, the author went to the library of the North Campus of Kunming Normal University with the Party Secretary of Kunming University Library. Chat about the topic of ancient books. A staff member who used to keep the "ancient books" in the library of the North Campus said: All the "ancient books" in the library of the North Campus belonged to the period of the Republic of China, and they were all eaten by insects into a sieve and a bag of ash, which were easily broken and had no value. At that time, the head of the North Campus Library was also present, but he didn't say a word about the topic of ancient books. The more I think about it when I come back, the more wrong it is. I told the secretary of the Party Committee of Kunming University Library that I wanted to see if there were any ancient books in the library of the North Campus. Are those "ancient books" really worthless The secretary of the Party Committee of Kunming University Library agreed, saying that after he contacted the person in charge of the library in the North Campus, he would go and have a look together.
Second, the first clue
Soon after, the secretary of the Party Committee of Kunming University Library got in touch with the person in charge of the North Campus Library. The author made a special trip to the library of the North Campus of Kunming University to read those "ancient books" with the Party Secretary of the Library of Kunming University. On that day, we were warmly received by the person in charge of the North Campus Library.
After reading a set of four volumes of Xie Ji by Wen Feiqing, my eyes lit up. Its word structure is symmetrical; Proper spacing and spacing; Dark black ink; Clear handwriting; Version is woodcarving version; The paper is very thick; The degree of aging and oxidation of paper is natural; The dark curtain of paper is wider; The layout size and binding form are the same as those in Kangxi period; Close to the nose and smell the unique fragrance of ancient books; There is only one preface, the inscription date of which is Kangxi, and there is no trace of tearing off a page near the preface. Look at the binding line carefully, it is original, and there is no case of removing the back preface after unpacking; According to the catalogue, this set of books has four volumes and nine volumes. Except for one or two small holes in the first few pages of the two volumes, there are no oil stains and water stains in the four volumes, and the four volumes are basically well preserved. The content of Wen Feiqing's anthology is poetry; This set of books is complete. Based on more than ten years' experience in collecting ancient books, the author thinks that Ji Jie by Wen Feiqing is a Kangxi block print and should be a rare one.
More than ten years ago, when Yunnan Province established the Provincial Cultural Relics Collection Association, the author became the first member of the Yunnan Provincial Collection Association. On 20 10 1 1 month, the author participated in the 25th national training course of ancient books survey. During the training course, the author was fortunate to learn the knowledge of ancient books from Mr. Li Zhizhong, Xu Yinong, director of the historical documents department of Nanjing Library, and Mr. Rowling, National Science Library of Chinese Academy of Sciences. At the request of students, Mr. Li Lao taught the appraisal of ancient books. The author selected a dozen volumes (species) from the ancient books collected for many years, and asked Mr. Li Lao to identify them. Mr. Li Lao's appraisal results are as follows: more than a dozen volumes (species) are ancient books, and there are no fakes; Among them, three volumes (species) are ancient books of Ming Dynasty.
In addition, the author also saw twenty bookcases full of ancient books and books of the Republic of China in the library of the North Campus. There are about 2000 ancient books. Among the ancient books, except Ji Jie by Wen Feiqing and several sets of ancient books in Tongzhi and Guangxu periods, the rest are incomplete. No movable type books or overprinter books were found in these ancient books. Some of these ancient books have the seal of Wuhua Academy in Wilfred Bungei.
Each of these twenty bookcases has two revolving doors (sliding doors) made of brown glass. The measure to prevent these books from being eaten by insects is just to put some dry tobacco leaves. Moreover, these dried tobacco leaves were bought a few years ago, and they can't smell the taste of dried tobacco leaves, which has almost no effect of preventing insects from eating. A small part of these ancient books have been eaten by insects, but the words can still be recognized. The front and tail of several ancient books have become fragments, but the volume may still be repaired. Most other ancient books are basically well preserved. In addition, books of the Republic of China are basically well preserved. After reading more than 20 cabinet books, the author thinks that: except Ji Jie written by Wen Feiqing, it is from the Kangxi period, and the other 2,000 ancient books are from the middle and late Qing Dynasty; The rest are books from the Republic of China. These twenty books are of great value, among which Wen Feiqing's collection is the most precious.
The person in charge of the North Campus Library said that there were 1 10,000 books in this batch. But there are only numbers, no book roster, and no detailed written records and explanations such as specific years.
After returning from the library of Kunming University North Campus, the author made a report to the director of Kunming University Library in time. At the same time, it also puts forward three suggestions to the library leaders:
1. At present, the moth-proofing measures for those ancient books of the Republic of China are not effective. You can buy some anti-insect products such as camphor essence or mothballs to prevent insects from eating. After reporting to the hospital leaders, we will approve the funds, and then take more powerful measures to protect ancient books such as moth prevention.
2. Because there are hundreds of thousands of ancient books in yunnan university library, one of which is an engraving of the Song and Yuan Dynasties, and there are some isolated books in the Ming Dynasty. The experts of ancient books in their library have a high level of appraisal of ancient books. The director of Kunming University Library is familiar with yunnan university library. Therefore, it is suggested that the curator of Kunming University Library should come forward and invite experts of ancient books from yunnan university library to identify those ancient books in the library of Kunming University North Campus.
At present, the management of those ancient books in the Republic of China is rather confusing, so management should be strengthened.
Third, there is a look.
Not long after, that is, more than a year ago, the director of the library of Kunming University asked the author to accompany an ancient book expert from yunnan university library to the library of the North Campus of Kunming University to identify these 10,000 books together with the secretary of the Party Committee of the library. This expert in ancient books is a master of ancient books.
After the experts of ancient books accompanying yunnan university library arrived at the library of the North Campus of Kunming University, the author was delighted to see that some mothballs had been put in twenty bookcases. Although the smell of camphor after entering the house is not strong enough, it still plays a role in preventing insects from eating.
Experts in ancient books in yunnan university library have carefully read about 10,000 books. At the same time, I recorded some records. Then go back to yunnan university library to check the information and research online. The final appraisal result of yunnan university library ancient books experts is:
1. Wen Feiqing's Jie Ji is an engraving in Kangxi period, which is a rare version.
2. The rest of the ancient books are block printing in the middle and late Qing Dynasty, and most of them are incomplete.
Of these 10,000 books, about 2,000 are ancient books, and the rest are books from the Republic of China.
This 10,000-odd book is valuable and precious.
Among these 10,000 books, Wen Feiqing's collection is the most precious.
To sum up, Wen Feiqing's books are the treasures of Kunming University Library that I have seen so far. The library of Kunming University currently has a total construction area of 40,075 square meters, and now has printed books10.35 million copies and electronic books10.23 million copies (species). There are more than 3,300 reading seats, and the weekly opening hours can reach 654.38+0,000 hours. At present, there are about10.5 million students in school. A university library of this size now has a decent town library treasure. We should cherish and protect the treasure of this town hall!
