Teachers and classmates:

Hello everyone!

Following the footsteps of spring and with a beautiful mood, we have entered a new semester. Looking back on 2015, we hope that Gaotangling Middle School will achieve fruitful results with solid steps. , now that the new semester has begun, I sincerely hope that all teachers and students will devote themselves to their study and life and create greater glories.

First of all, let me tell you two stories:

1. The story of Tu Youyou

Tu Youyou, a pharmacist. Graduated from Peking University School of Medicine in 1955 and is a doctoral supervisor. Currently, he is a tenured researcher and chief researcher of the China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He has been engaged in research on traditional Chinese medicine and combined Chinese and Western medicine for many years and has achieved remarkable results. He led the research team to invent and develop new anti-malarial artemisinin and reduced artemisinin. In August 20xx, he won the Lasker Medical Award for Clinical Medical Research for the discovery of artemisinin. On January 16, 2012, the New York Times published a long article stating that the discovery of artemisinin was one of the important achievements in the fight against malaria. In October 2015, Tu Youyou won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for her discovery of artemisinin, a drug that can effectively reduce the mortality of malaria patients. She became the first Chinese to win the Nobel Prize in science. When Tu Youyou joined the Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, conditions were difficult and equipment was scarce. The laboratory did not even have basic ventilation facilities. Tu Youyou, who often dealt with various chemical solutions, soon suffered physical damage and suffered from toxic hepatitis. . In addition to shaking bottles in the laboratory, she often went to the field to collect samples, sweating and muddy, and successively solved the problem of confusion in the varieties of traditional Chinese medicine Lobelia and Bupleurum, making contributions to the prevention and treatment of schistosomiasis; combining ancient books and Based on the experience of various provinces, the main compilation work of "Experience Collection of Traditional Chinese Medicine Processing" was completed. Tu Youyou's most eye-catching achievement is the discovery of artemisinin, which is a first-line drug for the prevention and treatment of malaria. It saves thousands of lives every year around the world, especially in developing countries, and is in the fight against malaria, a deadly disease. The ongoing battle has produced long-term medical benefits. So says the Lasker Foundation.

Tu Youyou’s story: Life is about perseverance, dedication, and love in your heart. Good at discovering the joy in ordinary things. My classmates, I know that studying is boring and hard. If success is so easy, why should you work hard? If you play with your mobile phone, fall asleep, and want to repay without giving, it is impossible.

2. Jack Ma’s story

In 1982, Jack Ma failed the college entrance examination for the first time. He worked as a secretary, a porter, and rode a three-wheeler to deliver books to a magazine.

In 1983, Jack Ma still failed in the second college entrance examination, and was 140 points away from the admission line.

In 1984, Ma Yun was finally admitted to a junior college and entered Hangzhou Normal University due to a reduced score. In 1994, Ma Yun used his spare time to set up a night school to teach English part-time and help others with English translation.

In 1995, he quit his stable job as a university teacher and discovered the Internet for the first time. This opened up a new era for Jack Ma. He first planned to collect domestic corporate information and put it online to the world. After the launch, he immediately decided to cooperate with friends in Seattle to create the world's first B2B e-commerce model and named it China Yellow Pages. However, at first, in many cities without the Internet, Ma Yun was regarded as a liar, but Ma Yun was still as unyielding as a madman. He reminded himself every day that the Internet is a 10,000-meter race that will affect human life in the next 30 years. You must run like a rabbit. Just as fast, but as durable as a turtle. Then he went out to talk to others about the Internet and customers, and the business started with difficulty. In 1996, the turnover reached an incredible 7 million. In this year, the Internet gradually became popular. From 1995 when Jack Ma came into contact with the Internet to 1999 when Alibaba came out, it took Jack Ma five years and two failures to succeed. After achieving the first stage of success, Ma Yun experienced various blows and failures in the long five years, but he always believed that he could succeed and always persisted in his efforts, so he dared to say that today was cruel, Tomorrow will be cruel, and the day after tomorrow will be beautiful, but most companies will die tomorrow night. He is the person who survives tomorrow night with the results of perseverance. So Jack Ma’s success is not just because he started his business 10 years earlier than us. Maybe you think Jack Ma is lucky, maybe you think Jack Ma has abundant funds, maybe you think Jack Ma is lucky, but don’t forget, Jack Ma took the college entrance examination twice I worked as a porter after failing the exam, and I worked as a hawker after stepping on a three-wheeler. Don’t forget that when Alibaba started its business, 35 people were crowded into a room. Everyone had to raise funds to start a business, and Jack Ma relied on loans to make his salary. Therefore, Jack Ma's entrepreneurial success is no accident. It is the crystallization of wisdom and courage, the result of confidence and hard work, and the miracle of persistence and creation. Success is inevitable.

Jack Ma’s story: No matter the starting point, struggle is the most important. Failure is not scary, but fearing that you don’t have the courage to stand up. Classmates, if a teenager plays games, sleeps in, and does nothing every day, then his youth is pale and weak, and is not worth remembering and chewing on.

Students, it’s a new semester, a new starting point, and new hopes. Here, I put forward the following requirements to the students:

1. Cultivate your temperament, improve your cultivation, and be a good person. Civilized people. There is literacy rooted in the bottom of the heart, there is freedom based on restraint, there is solid and excellent knowledge, and there is kindness in thinking about others.

2. Strengthen exercise and develop skills. Have a healthy body and have artistic accomplishment.

3. Work hard to learn cultural knowledge, have a sense of innovation and independent thinking. Knowledge is a key that opens the door to wisdom. Knowledge makes people strong. Only shallow people will say that knowledge is useless.

4. Responsible spirit and sense of responsibility. The rise and fall of the country is not the responsibility of any individual, but my responsibility. As you do, so will the collective, and so will the country. Some of us blame people all day long, but never think about, what have I done? Some of our classmates lack the spirit of responsibility and sense of responsibility, and are indifferent to family, school, society and country. I hope that students will start from small things around them and continue to cultivate themselves.

Teachers and students, now is an era of rapid development. We must have the spirit of keeping pace with the times, keep making progress, keep surpassing, and be better selves.

Finally, I wish the students academic progress and good health! I wish the teachers success in their work and all the best!
