Yuan Xingpei was born in Wujin, Jiangsu Province (now Wujin District, Changzhou City). Professor of Chinese Department of Peking University, Dean of China Research Institute.

Yuan Xingpei, who was born in a traditional literati family, cultivated Yuan Xingpei's interest in classical literature. 1953 Yuan Xingpei was admitted to the Chinese Department of Peking University. 65438-0957 Peking University graduated from Chinese Department and stayed in school to teach, from which he began his teaching and research career.
