Which canal system construction played an important role in agricultural production in Guanzhong Plain during the Western Han Dynasty?
During the Western Han Dynasty, the canal system in Guanzhong developed further. In the second year of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty (95 BC), a white canal was built on the Shuijing River. Therefore, this canal was put forward by Dr. Bai Gong of Zhao Zhong, so it is called the White Canal. Baiqu is located in the south of Zheng Guoqu, and its trend is roughly parallel to that of Zheng Guoqu. The water diversion from Jinghe River in the west and Weishui River in the east is about 100 km, with an irrigation area of more than 4,500 hectares. Since then, people have called it Zheng Baiqu together with Zheng Guoqu. At that time, there was a ballad saying, "Where is the field, at the mouth of Chiyang Valley, the state of Zheng is in front, after the white canal rises, it is the cloud, the canal is the rain, the water is the stone, the mud is counted, and the dung is poured, so that I can grow up and feed the capital with a population of hundreds of millions." It can be seen that the construction of Zhengbaiqu has played an important role in agricultural production and economic development in Guanzhong Plain. Irrigation canals built in Guanzhong Plain include six auxiliary canals, Guo Cheng Canal, Mongolian Canal, Lingbi Canal and other irrigation channels that lead to Weihe River and its tributaries.
