When I was in college, I was inspired by Kaoru Kitamura's "Rokunomiya Princess" and decided to become a mystery writer.
In 2001, he made his debut by winning the "Youth Mystery & Horror Division" award at the 5th Kadokawa Campus Novel Award for "Hyogo". In 2005, the novel "Goodbye, Goblin" was selected into the annual TOP 20 of "This Mystery Novel is Amazing!", and his works have been on the list almost every year since then. Yonezawa Honobu's early creations are famous for their "youth mystery" style of solving daily mysteries, including the "Ancient Book Research Society Series", "Small Citizen Series", and the Private Detective "S&R Series".
The text has the narrative charm of light novel elements, combined with the puzzle-solving fun of character reasoning, and delicately depicts the inner emotions of adolescent men and women, which has won the praise of the younger generation.
The writing style has changed drastically, and the atmosphere of youthful reasoning has almost disappeared. Many works independent of the series are full of dark and thriller colors, such as "Bottleneck" in 2006 and "The Calculation" in 2007. ”, the latter’s murder game-heavy content was adapted for the big screen in 2010.
In 2011, he won the 64th Japan Mystery Writers Association Award for "Broken Dragon Bone" (tentative translation).
