Introduction: The Library of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is a comprehensive public library at the autonomous region level. It is an academic social and cultural educational institution that provides literature and information services to the public. It is the public library system of the entire region. The central library is an important part of Xinjiang's scientific, educational and cultural undertakings. It is under the leadership of the Department of Culture of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The Xinjiang Autonomous Region Library was founded in August 1930 and was originally named the Xinjiang Provincial Library. In October 1949, it was renamed the Xinjiang Provincial People's Library. In October 1955, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region was established, and the Provincial People's Library was renamed the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Library. In 1958, a new building with a construction area of ??2300M2 was built on Xinhua South Road, Urumqi. On July 24, 1986, ground was broken for the construction of a new building at No. 4, Beijing South Road, Urumqi. The new library covers an area of ??55 acres, with a total construction area of ??24,700 square meters, a designed collection capacity of 3 million volumes, and 2,500 reading seats. The new building was finally officially completed and opened on October 23, 1999. The library of the Xinjiang Autonomous Region currently has 77 staff members from six ethnic groups: Han, Uighur, Kazakh, Hui, Mongolian and Koh. Its main departments include: Director’s Office, Personnel and Security Department, Administrative Department, Acquisition and Cataloging Department, Chinese Loan Department, Newspaper and Periodical Reading Department, Civilian Literature Department, Foreign Language Literature Department, Reference Department, Ancient Books and Special Collections Department, and Electronic Documentation Department. , Research and Counseling Department.
