Welcome XiShen on New Year's Eve.

Welcome XiShen on the third day of the Lunar New Year.

On the third day of the first month, people also call it "New Year's Eve" or "Red Dog Day". After the Spring Festival, people are used to choosing the first auspicious day and going out for an outing. This is the so-called wedding celebration festival or visiting the Western gods. Western gods, according to legend, are dedicated to celebrating.

Worship to Western gods is common in various ceremonial activities, especially in weddings. The ancient book records: "If you meet the Western God, you will be able to be healthy at the age of one", which means that if you meet the Western God at the beginning of the year and get the care of the Western God, you will be safe and smooth within one year. So welcoming XiShen is also a very popular folk custom.

Brief introduction of western gods:

China people generally believe in the Western God. XiShen is a god of good fortune, and folklore is a god of joy. Because people's desire is to avoid misfortune and pursue happiness, they invented a XiShen.

According to China folklore, Xishen was originally a pious woman who worshipped the Big Dipper. When she became immortal, the Big Dipper asked her what she wanted. The woman sipped her mouth with her hand and just laughed. The big dipper mistakenly thought that she prayed for a beard, so she gave her a beard. Because she laughed happily, she was named Xishen. Because of her beard, she no longer lets mortals see her image.

Since then, the Western God devoted himself to celebrating, but he did not show his spirit. Therefore, the biggest feature of the western gods is that they have no specific image, no special temples and are highly abstract. XiShen also conveyed people's psychological activities of pursuing peace and joy.
