Cao Guoqing was born in 1962 in Xiuning County, Huangshan City, Anhui Province.

He has long been committed to the study of Chinese culture and Ming and Qing history, and is a well-known expert in Ming history. He has presided over a number of national, provincial and ministerial level scientific research projects, and has been particularly devoted to the study of historical figures. He is the author of 8 monographs, including "Critical Biography of Yan Song", "Chronology of Yan Song", "The Great Confucian Huang Zongxi", and "The Biography of Emperor Wanli". Chief editor and editor of 5 ancient books. He has published more than 100 papers in Chinese and foreign academic journals, many of which have been translated into English, Japanese and Korean. He has been invited to visit and give lectures in South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan for many times.
