Appreciation of Yue Fei's Tomb in Ancient Books

Located in front of Yue Fei's tomb at the southern foot of Qixialing in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, there are four bronze statues kneeling in front of the tomb. These four men were Qin Gui, the great traitor who killed Yue Fei, and his followers. But before that, there were not four bronze statues kneeling in front of Yue Fei's tomb, but five. Where is the bronze statue of the fifth man?

Before that, let's take a look at the treacherous court official kneeling in front of Yue Fei's tomb.

At present, the four bronze statues kneeling in front of Yue Fei's tomb are Wang (his wife), Zhang Jun, and before that, there was a bronze statue of Luo Ruzhen. These five people were the villains who framed Yue Fei in those years. Yuefei Tomb was built in Jiading period of Southern Song Dynasty. At that time, there was no bronze statue in front of Yue Fei's tomb.

In a.d. 153 1 year, Zhejiang satrap asked Li Long to come to worship Yue Fei. In order to make people remember the traitors who framed Yue Fei, they ordered people to cast three bronze statues in front of Yue Fei's tomb, namely Qin Gui and Wan Sixie. These three men are the main killers of Yue Fei. That year, Qin Gui committed adultery with Xu Jinguo. When Yue Fei was ready to attack the main city of Xu Jinguo, he encouraged Zhao Gou to recruit Yue Fei back to the court, accused him of "unwarranted" and put him in prison, where he was killed. Therefore, Qin Gui was the first person to kneel down and apologize to General Yue Fei.

Secondly, Wang, who didn't frame Yue Fei in the court, helped her to kill Yue Fei at an early date, so she was also one of the great sinners who killed Yue Fei that year. Wan Sixie is in charge of Yue Fei. After Yue Fei went to prison, he tortured Yue Fei and forged his confession evidence, which eventually killed Yue Fei who was still in prison. So, the original bronze statue belongs to these three people.

After the bronze statues of the three men were built, Li Long let the three bronze statues kneel in front of Yue Fei's tomb and let them be abused and spurned. Because people hated the three traitors who killed General Yue Fei, it didn't take long for these bronze statues to break into pieces.

In the twenty-second year of Wanli, these three bronze statues have been completely broken. Therefore, Fan Lai, then Zhejiang's deputy envoy, ordered the bronze statue to be recast, but this time Zhang Jun, the principal criminal who framed Yue Fei, was added. This Zhang Yuanjun is a subordinate of Yue Fei, and Yue Fei trusts his subordinates very much, but this Zhang Jun betrayed Yue Fei and colluded with Qin Gui and others to kill Yue Fei. So Fan Lai decided to cast a bronze statue of this man and let him kneel in front of Yue Fei's grave. In this way, four bronze statues appeared in front of Yue Fei's tomb.

What about the fifth bronze statue?

These four bronze statues knelt down until the end of the Ming Dynasty. At this point, the bronze statue has been thrown out of shape, the head of the king statue has all fallen off, and the other three are also missing arms and legs. In the Qing Dynasty, a local official came to worship Yue Fei. Seeing these four broken bronze statues, he ordered four more to be recast, and at the same time added another bronze statue, that is, the fifth bronze statue, that is, Luo Ruzhen.

This Luo Ruzhen was also one of the people who framed General Yue Fei. He can be said to be a "follower" of Qin Gui. He will do almost anything to please Qin Gui. When Qin Gui framed Yue Fei, he also stood up and criticized General Yue Fei, and was one of Qin Gui's accomplices. In this way, five bronze statues knelt in front of General Yue Fei's grave and confessed their mistakes.

Then why are there only four left now? Where is the bronze statue of Luo Ruzhen?

In fact, during the Qing Dynasty, Li Wei, the new governor of Zhejiang Province, renovated these five bronze statues. At that time, both the people and Li Jue thought that Luo Ruzhen was not worthy to kneel in front of Yue Fei's grave, so when these bronze statues were rebuilt, Li Jue ordered the bronze statues of Luo Ruzhen to be removed.

At this point, only four bronze statues of Qin Gui and his wife Wan Sixie and Zhang Jun are left in Yue Fei's tomb, which have been preserved until now.
