The Academy of Fine Arts of Shanghai Normal University, formerly known as the Fine Arts Department of Shanghai Normal University, was founded in 197 1 and in 2002. At present, there are two first-class master's programs in fine arts and design, two master's programs in fine arts history, plastic arts, China calligraphy and painting, design arts, curriculum and teaching theory, and two master's programs in fine arts, art design and subject teaching (fine arts), with 0/.055 undergraduates and 0/.93 postgraduates. There are 98 faculty members, including 9 full professors, 32 associate professors, 5 special part-time professors/kloc-0, and nearly 50 external faculty members.
The Academy of Fine Arts of Shanghai Normal University is one of the two comprehensive fine arts colleges with the longest history and the largest scale in Shanghai. With the strategic shift from normal university to comprehensive university, the college has developed from a simple art education major to a comprehensive art college with eight majors, including painting (oil painting, printmaking), sculpture, art (normal university), visual communication design, environmental design, product design, Chinese painting and Chinese painting (calligraphy), 10. Over the past 40 years, the Academy of Fine Arts has trained a large number of fine arts education and fine arts professionals for Shanghai and even the whole country, especially for East China. More than 80% middle school art teachers in Shanghai are trained by the Academy of Fine Arts of Shanghai Normal University. Over the years, the college teachers and students have also won many important awards in a series of national art exhibitions.
