Zhang is a member of China Calligraphers Association, secretary-general of Calligraphy Art Committee of China Calligraphy and Painting Training Base of Ministry of Culture, executive director of Jiangxi Calligraphers Association, visiting scholar of China Renmin University, signing painter of China Painting Academy of China Renmin University, painter of Miao Zhongan's studio, president of China Calligraphy and Painting Creation Research Institute, president of loong Cultural Research Institute and deputy editor of China Calligraphy and Painting Newspaper. Now he is the Secretary-General, Senior Lecturer and Instructor of Calligraphy Art Committee of Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts.
