The editor has limited knowledge and would like to share some humble opinions about the golden mean. If any wise readers find something wrong, please give their comments (it’s a bit scary to talk about such profound and philosophical matters). Because the editor's mind is like a wild dog, he likes brainstorming and free association. He may go off topic and talk about things that are irrelevant to the topic. If he is not interested, he will skip it.
I think in layman’s terms, moderation means balance, harmony, nature, and appropriateness. The previous article mentioned the greatness of Wang Xizhi, so let’s start here. People say that there is no first in literature and no second in martial arts. Wang Xizhi's calligraphy is an exception. He is the only calligraphy sage. Later generations talked about the calligraphy of older generations: Ou Liuyanzhao's calligraphy is very good when viewed alone, and it is difficult to find shortcomings. But when compared with Wang Xizhi, it will feel disharmonious.
The face is thick and thick, horizontally thin and vertically thick
Ouyang is upright but dangerous
Wang Pinghe is natural
Later generations commented on the calligraphy of the sage: style Peaceful and natural, the writing style is euphemistic and reserved, following beauty and beauty. When commenting on Ouyang Xun, he often heard the words "strange", "precipitous" and "unique structure", which indicate that the balance is not as good as Wang Shu's, but it also forms his own style in the balance. A common comment on Ouyang Xun's calligraphy is: "In the middle of the plain, you can see the danger; in the middle of Yan Zhenqing's knot, you can see the circle." It is full of muscles and bones, and also has an edge. Generally, the horizontal strokes are slightly thinner, and the vertical strokes, dots, strokes and strokes are slightly thicker. . . (Part of the characteristics)
With my understanding of calligraphy, I don’t have the ability to appreciate these top calligraphers. I can only get some clues by reading other people’s evaluations to confirm. But I analyze it logically, maybe the calligrapher is the calligrapher precisely because of the four words "peace and nature". I think this is the golden mean. Although everyone else has a strong personal style, they still "see danger in the middle of the ordinary" and "there are XX and XX". . It is a characteristic that arises from balance.
The calligrapher pays attention to the blank space in the design
Thinking of the continental drift hypothesis
In the program about the calligrapher, it was mentioned that it was the calligrapher who raised calligraphy to the level of art. , giving calligraphy the formal element (black and white), one of the three elements of art. In the past, calligraphy only focused on black (the part you write on) and the white space was the naturally formed "extra white". The calligraphy master pays attention to "white space" and carefully designs the white part when writing the black part. Paying attention to black and ignoring white is unbalanced, and balance is the mean.
There is a saying in the Tao Te Ching: The way of heaven is to make up for the deficiency when there is excess. The law of nature is to make up for the deficiency by taking advantage of the loss. The rice will gradually cool down when removed from the fire, because the heat of the rice will be transferred to the air. As water flows downward, air will be pushed upward. Nature always consciously develops in a more harmonious and stable direction. Gasoline explosives have high energy, so they are flammable and explosive, and they become smoke and dust with low energy, which is more stable. Harmony, nature, and stability are also the mean.
It is also often seen in life. Listening to small songs often makes you happy, but big songs are harmful to your health. Whatever you like to do or eat, you can only do it in appropriate amounts. Excessive amounts will be counterproductive. The first time I ate a snack, I thought it was so delicious. I bought a lot of it and ate it non-stop. After eating it for half a month, I haven’t eaten it again in several years and I no longer want to eat it. . . . Moderation is also appropriate and just right.
Now there is the "barrel theory", which also refers to the moderate balance. How much water a barrel can hold depends on the shortest piece of wood.
Fighting requires strength, skills, speed, and mentality. . . Both are indispensable.
Strong
Soft
Choose a hero lineup wisely to balance the different roles of each position. The one with the most powerful equipment must also take into account the output, otherwise it will not be able to threaten the enemy. Those with high output must be able to survive the cut, otherwise they will not be able to produce output.
The perfect match
Moderate exists everywhere in life. I think the most prominent feature of moderation is balance, naturalness, appropriateness and just right. The golden mean is an objective law and a philosophical thought. Regardless of whether it is a country or an individual, whether it is dealing with the relationship between people, whether it is dealing with the relationship between people and nature, or whether it is dealing with the relationship between people and society, it is applied consciously or unconsciously in people's lives today. It’s just that many of us don’t know it, or don’t understand its essence, and don’t feel its important role.
