Longjia Courtyard is a traditional residence of Han nationality which embodies the architectural style of Ming Dynasty. Located in Heiaoling Village, Shantou Town, Xintian County, Hunan Province, 14 kilometers away from the county seat. Because of the dragon surname in the village, it is called Longjia Courtyard. Villagers are descendants of Long Bogao, the satrap of Lingling in the early Eastern Han Dynasty. They moved here from Lingling during the Yuanfeng period in Song Shenzong, with a history of more than 93 years. Longjia Courtyard is the most distinctive brick-wood structure complex in Yongzhou in Ming and Qing Dynasties. Ancient village dwellings and ancient cultural sites have been well preserved so far. These houses and historical sites are located in a treasure trove of geomantic omen, with ingenious design, excellent production, extraordinary bearing and lingering charm, which embodies the wisdom and superb architectural skills of the working people of the ancient Han nationality. 1 The compound is located in the middle of Daguanling, halfway up the mountain. The whole compound is located in the middle of the mountain, facing southwest to northeast. There is an old castle site one kilometer away from the back hill. The surname Long moved here and didn't prosper until the Ming Dynasty. There are 48 existing buildings with typical cultural characteristics of the Han nationality in southern Hunan, all of which are clear-water walls and small blue tiles made of blue bricks, hard hilltops with wind and fire walls, pavilions, exquisite wood carvings, colorful paintings and dignified and simple screen walls. There are 128 couplets in Longjia Courtyard, which reflect farming culture and the idea of seclusion. It also inherits Long Bogao's sincere, prudent, modest and frugal character. Couplets are not only beautifully written, but also have different fonts. Tourists call Longjia Courtyard "a century-old courtyard, a satrap legacy, a paradise and a beautiful village".
