West Lake The Legend of the White Snake
During the Qingming Festival, the shores of the West Lake are red with flowers and willows, and the broken bridge is crowded with tourists. It is really a beautiful picture of bright spring. Suddenly, two beautiful girls quietly rose up from the bottom of the West Lake. What happened? How can a person rise from the water? It turns out that they are two snake spirits who have transformed into human forms. Even so, they have no harmful intentions. Just because they are envious of the colorful life in the world, one of them changed their name to Bai Suzhen and the other to Xiaoqing and came to the West Lake. play.
God suddenly lost his temper, and it rained heavily in an instant. Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing were soaked and had nowhere to hide. They were worried when they suddenly felt an umbrella above their heads. They turned around and saw, They saw a gentle, fair and delicate young scholar holding an umbrella to protect them from the rain. Bai Suzhen and the little scholar met each other's eyes, and both blushed in unison, admiring each other. Xiaoqing saw this and said hurriedly: "Thank you! May I ask your guest's name?" The little scholar said: "My name is Xu Xian, and I live next to the broken bridge." Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing also hurriedly introduced themselves. . From then on, the three of them met often, and the relationship between Bai Suzhen and Xu Xian became better and better. Soon after, they got married and opened a "Baohetang" drugstore. They lived a wonderful life!
Because "Baohe Tang" has cured many difficult diseases and provided medicines to the poor for free, the pharmacy's business has become more and more prosperous, and more and more people come to Bai Suzhen for treatment from far and near. More and more people began to affectionately call Bai Suzhen the White Snake. However, the prosperity of "Baohe Hall" and the happy life of Xu Xian and Bai Niangzi annoyed one person, who? That is Monk Fahai from Jinshan Temple. Because people's diseases were cured by White Snake, fewer people came to Jinshan Temple to burn incense and pray to Bodhisattva. As the incense was not strong, Monk Fahai naturally became unhappy. On this day, he came to the "Baohe Hall" again and saw the White Snake treating people. He couldn't help but feel jealous. When he took a closer look, oh! It turns out that this white lady is not a mortal, but a white snake!
Although Fahai has a little bit of magic, his mind is not right. After seeing the identity of the White Snake, he wanted to break up Xu Xian, the White Snake and his wife, and bring down the "Baohe Hall" all day long. So, he secretly called Xu Xian to the temple and said to him: "Your wife is a snake spirit. Break up with her quickly, otherwise, she will eat you!" When Xu Xian heard this, he was very angry. : My wife is kind-hearted and her affection for me is deeper than the sea. Even if she is a snake spirit, she will not harm me, not to mention she is pregnant now, how can I abandon her! When Fahai saw that Xu Xian was not fooled by him, he became angry and imprisoned Xu Xian in the temple.
In "Baohe Hall", White Snake is anxiously waiting for Xu Xian to come back. One day, two days, waiting left and right, the white lady was very anxious. Finally, she found out that Xu Xian was "kept" by monk Fahai of Jinshan Temple. White Snake quickly took Xiaoqing to Jinshan Temple and begged Fahai to release Xu Xian. When Fahai saw Madam Bai, she sneered and said, "Bold snake, I advise you to leave the world as soon as possible, otherwise don't blame me for being rude!" Seeing that Fahai refused to let go, Madam Bai had no choice but to pull off her head. The golden hairpin swayed in the wind, setting off a huge wave and heading towards Jinshan Temple. When Fahai saw the water flooding Jinshan Temple, he quickly took off his cassock and turned it into a long embankment, blocking the entrance to the temple. When the water rises by one foot, the long embankment becomes one foot high. When the water rises by one foot, the long embankment becomes one foot high. No matter how big the waves are, they cannot get over them. In addition, Bai Niangzi was pregnant and could not defeat Fahai. Later, Fahai used deceptive tactics to put Bai Niangzi into the golden bowl and pressed her under the Leifeng Pagoda, killing the loving couple Xu Xian and Bai Niangzi. Torn apart alive.
After Xiaoqing escaped from Jinshan Temple, she practiced martial arts in the mountains for decades, finally defeated Fahai, forced him into the belly of a crab, and rescued White Snake. From then on, she, Xu Xian and their children lived happily Live together and never be separated again.
East Lake Taoshe
Tao Chengzhang, born in 1878, was killed in Shanghai Guangci Hospital in 1912. He was only 35 years old. He, Qiu Jin and Xu Xilin are known as the "Three Heroes of Jianhu". On both sides of the door hangs a couplet written by Mr. Shen Ding'an, a famous calligrapher in Shaoxing: "After half a lifetime of running, I succeeded in my ambition, and opened the foundation of China's democratic state. Six thousand gentlemen bowed down together: The fragrance of eternity is strong today, and he is a hero of Wu and Yue. , eight hundred lakes and mountains win glory together." This couplet summarizes Tao Chengzhang's glorious but short life.
In the center of the memorial room hangs a horizontal plaque with the words "Magnificent Rivers and Mountains" written by Dr. Sun Yat-sen himself. This was written by Sun Yat-sen when he visited East Lake in 1916 to commemorate the martyr after Tao Chengzhang was killed. Careful tourists may find that the two characters in the plaque have broken pens. It is said that Dr. Sun Yat-sen saw the mountains and rivers broken and the martyrs died young, and his calligraphy revealed extremely sad and angry emotions. Due to the destruction of the Tao She's historic sites during the Anti-Japanese War, the current Tao She was rebuilt in 1981. Now the Tao She is a famous moral education base in Shaoxing. Thousands of students come here every year to commemorate the martyrs.

Dongqian Lake: The Legend of Butuo Cave
The waves of Dongqian Lake are vast, and the islands are like clams. There is Xiayu Island and Yuebo Mountain facing each other in the north and south. The weather is unique and it is a must-visit place for scholars of all ages when visiting Dongqian Lake.
There is a cave on Xiayu Island called Butuo Cave, also known as "Little Putuo". According to the "Yin County Chronicle" written by Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty, Xiayu Mountain is "in Dongqian Lake, surrounded by water, with a Pavilion overlooking the lake and a Guanyin Cave, named Xiaoputuo". This small Putuo was carved by Shi Hao, the prime minister of the Southern Song Dynasty.
Shi Hao, courtesy name Zhiweng, was born in Yinxian County. In the fifteenth year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (AD 1145), he was a Jinshi and served as Yuyao County Lieutenant and Wenzhou Professor. He was promoted from Taixue Zheng to Guozi Doctor, and later became the Prime Minister of the Right. When he was old, he was named Wei Guogong. He died in the fifth year of Shaoxi. He was named King of Yue. Shi Hao is a politician and a poet. He is the author of "Fengzhenyin Manglu", "Fengzhenyin Daqu" and "Ciqu".
Shi Hao lived on the bank of Dongqian Lake for a long time and was extremely filial. His mother believed in Buddhism and often went to Putuo, South China Sea to offer incense and pray to the Buddha to bless her family with prosperity and wealth for generations to come. Later, due to old age and blindness, I went to the South China Sea to offer incense. I had to cross the ocean. The journey was long, and the sea was full of rough waves, making it difficult for a boat to cross. But my mother has been clamoring all day long to worship Buddha. Shi Hao was concerned that his mother had difficulty moving. But it can't be stopped. He was so anxious that he could not sleep or eat. One day, in order to relieve boredom, I went boating on the lake. I saw an island on the lake with beautiful scenery, with rugged rocks standing in the water, just like Mount Putuo on the East China Sea. Suddenly he had an idea, why not dig a cave on the island and house a Buddha statue inside for his mother to worship. So he summoned local famous craftsmen and carvers to quietly build a grotto on Xiayu Island: a big hole was drilled on the island, and stone statues of Guanyin, Dharma protectors, flying dragons, etc. were carved in the hole. When everything was arranged, he asked his mother to Go to Putuo to offer incense.
It was a sunny day. Shi Hao arranged a large boat in advance. He helped his mother into the cabin and sat down, then raised the sails and paddles and traveled around Dongqian Lake. Every night, the boatman would report to the old man according to Shi Haobian's words: "The ship has arrived at Zhaobaoshan" and "The ship has passed Shen's Gate". The boat wandered on Dongqian Lake for three days and three nights. Finally, before arriving at the grotto, the boatman loudly announced: "Mount Putuo has arrived!" The monks who were waiting there saw the boat docking and hurriedly chanted sutras and knocked on wooden fish. The incense burner deceived Shi's mother into believing that she had arrived at Mount Putuo. So, Shi Hao helped his mother into the grotto, burned incense and worshiped Buddha, fulfilling her wish. From now on, he would use this method every year to worship Buddha.
Shi Hao held an official position during the reign of Emperor Xiaozong of the Song Dynasty and became prominent for a while. His five sons and a group of grandsons are all high-ranking officials and well-paid. At that time, there was a saying in Mingzhou that "all the nobles wearing purple clothes in the dynasty were from the Siming Dynasty". Most of the mountains and rivers around Dongqian Lake belong to historians, and it can be said that it is a piece of cake to dig a grotto. As the stars changed and people changed, Butuo Cave remained unknown for hundreds of years. It was not discovered until 1977 when a road was built and soil and stones were collected from the island.
The entrance of the grotto is engraved with the four characters "Bu Tuo Dong Tian" in Qin seal script in a simple and elegant way. The statues in the cave are lifelike, like unearthed pearls, and have become a major attraction in the Dongqian Lake Scenic Area. And together with its legend, it adds such a nostalgic feeling to tourists at home and abroad.
