Every Wednesday, should I do something that I am not good at doing?

September 3rd to September 9th, 2018

This week, I have been thinking about this question, should I do something I am not good at? I know there will definitely be two viewpoints. The first viewpoint is that you should dare to try and break through things you are not good at; the other viewpoint is that since you are not good at it, don’t waste time and do something interesting that you are good at. Let's do it.

After thinking about it, the key point of this question is still based on the word interest. Although you are not good at it, you are very interested and it will not cost you anything. You can try it. If you are not good at it and have no interest, then don’t waste your time.

Actually, this problem has been bothering me for a week. A friend introduced me to a shopping platform where I can shop as a store owner. Things are relatively cheap and I can get points back. My friend is doing better and has become a sales manager with a fixed monthly salary. She also works part-time, so she encouraged me to do the same. But you should form a group with familiar people and send shopping information from time to time. To be honest, although it is very simple, I am not good at doing this kind of thing. I can buy things myself, but I don’t want to drag others to open a store to shop. Later I thought about it, since I'm not good at it and don't want to be interested in it, I don't need to worry about it. I can make it clear to my friends and stop spending more time on it.

This week’s work is relatively easy, there are no extra things, just do your daily work step by step. I didn’t waste my time after work. I studied the self-study exam course. I am quite satisfied with the time arrangement this week.

Fun life this week. I learned how to make desserts several times. I have eaten fruit yogurt elsewhere before. This dessert is relatively simple. I have learned to make it a few times and it tastes okay. It was the first time I boiled Guiling paste. I didn't control the heat properly. I boiled it too long and added too little honey. It was too bitter. Keep trying next week.

I raised a few small goldfish. On a whim, I bought four small goldfish on Saturday, 2 small black and 2 small red. I found out on Sunday morning that a small black fish was dead. I did nothing and it died. In the end, we came to the unanimous conclusion that the fish ate too much at the fish seller and died. Just look at the other three small fish. Can they survive for a week?

Watched a few movies. I watched the original English movies "Notre Dame de Paris" and "Gone with the Wind", and watched the movie "Wonderful West and East" over the weekend.

This week, all my check-in tasks were basically completed on schedule.

One of Savage’s physical check-in tasks: walk 10,000 steps briskly every day. The time for brisk walking is on the way to work in the morning and during the lunch break. According to statistics, the total exercise in 7 days this week was 74.3 kilometers, the number of steps was 110,867, and the average was 15,838 steps per day. The goal of 10,000 steps was relatively easy to achieve, but the goal of starting running on the weekend has not yet been achieved. Let’s wait until the weather gets cooler. Brisk walking is a more gentle form of exercise.

Check-in task two: Keep doing abdominal muscle exercises every day. The abdominal muscle training continues this week. I do 2 minutes of planks every night. I did a total of 14 minutes of planks on 7 nights this week. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning and evening, there were no calligraphy arrangements. While doing planks for 2 minutes, I did some early abdominal muscle exercises on Keep. The movements are relatively simple, just follow the coach.

One of the spiritual check-in tasks for civilization: keep reading and studying every day. The study of investment and financial management is usually arranged in the morning. I listen to financial news and programs while washing up. I listen to Wu Xiaobo while eating breakfast. I listen to investment and financial management courses on Himalaya on the way to work. This week, I continue to listen to Professor Chen Zhiwu’s financial lectures. Finally, I am almost finished listening to the class. I will look back and take some notes to save the useful content. I read Graham's "Smart Investing" on the subway in the morning. I basically finished it and wrote two articles on the reading notes. Before going to bed at night, I start watching "The Ordinary World" at 10:00, mainly because I want to develop the habit of reading for half an hour before going to bed.

Of the five self-study exam subjects that I applied for, I reviewed one this week. I listened carefully to the online video class and the printed courseware. I didn’t want to review it too quickly. The key is to read it. You can remember by drawing inferences from one instance.

Check-in task two: Keep writing 500 words every day. I still get up at 6:00 in the morning and start writing. I usually write 500 to 600 words every day, and I guarantee to write an article in two days.

I wrote *** 4 articles this week, totaling 6,754 words, an average of about 964 words per day.

The four articles are: 1 weekly self-reflection article "Every Wednesday I reflect on myself and work hard, believe in the power of time and accumulation"; 1 monthly summary article "August Review | Watch dramas, write articles, "Drink Chicken Soup"; 1 article of financial management insight "40 years old, how should you plan to live a decent life in your later years"; 1 article of reading insight "Smart investors, the secret to investment success lies in your heart"

Check-in task three: practice official script every week. Practice 2 pages of official script on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday this week. I also practiced seal script on the weekend, which was quite interesting, just like painting. If you keep practicing like this, even if you can't become a calligrapher, it will be enough for you to cultivate yourself.

I realized in a week that it is better not to try things that you are not good at and are not interested in. You can try things that interest you but are not good at.

Next week I plan to continue learning about investment and financial management, including listening to Professor Chen Zhiwu’s finance class. Review the content of the self-study exam and memorize the knowledge points.
