Is Sanmenji one of Zhao Meng_’s masterpieces in regular script?

Sanmenji is one of Zhao Mengfu’s representative works in regular script. "Xuanmiao Temple Rebuilding the Three Gates" is a calligraphy work created by Zhao Mengfu, a calligrapher of the Yuan Dynasty. The paper version is now collected in the Tokyo National Museum, Japan. The stone carving based on it is located in the Zhengshan Gate of Xuanmiao Temple in Suzhou.

The article in this calligraphy work was written by Mou Gong, a scholar in the late Song Dynasty and early Yuan Dynasty. It records the renovation of the Xuanmiao Temple in Suzhou. The ink used in the original manuscript is slightly light, the ink color is clear and mellow, and the writing surface occasionally reveals the cursive strokes.

The Zhao writing style revealed in this book is exactly the same as "Miaoyan Temple Records" and "Dengba Stele". Zhao's writing style adheres to the principle of centering and following the trend, while also blending the writing style of running script, thus forming a style that either hides the edge in a subtle way or reveals the edge with a clear meaning. It is different from the neatness and rigor of calligraphy in the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, and also from the strict rules and meticulous craftsmanship of Tang Kai.
