Daguanlou was built in Kangxi period of Qing Dynasty, located in Kunming. Its buildings are filled with water, smoke and fog, resplendent and magnificent. However, it was the couplet 180 that appeared decades later that made this famous Kunming scenic spot. The first part describes the scenery around Dianchi Lake, like a landscape painting; The second banquet recorded the history of Yunnan, like a narrative epic.
Long couplets are magnificent and lofty, hanging in front of the building, sweeping away vulgarity and echo each other, which makes people applaud. "Those who smell it rise, those who climb it are fast", which is praised by the world as "the first long-term couplet in China".
The Daguanlou in Kunming was built during the Qianlong period, and Sun Ranweng wrote a couplet with the word 180 for it, which is known as "the first couplet in the world". Written and engraved by the famous scholar Lu Shutang, President Mao Zedong rated it as "unique since ancient times". Because of couplets, Daguanlou has become one of the four famous buildings in China, along with Yellow Crane Tower, Yueyang Tower and Stork Tower.
In the 1960s, after reading the couplets of Daguanlou, Marshal Chen Yi wrote a poem: "The eye of Dianchi Lake has been accompanied by human beings for thousands of years. ..... It is not unfortunate that the poet died of poverty. So far, Changlian is a prophecy. " Undoubtedly, the calligraphy charm revealed by Zhao Fan's book "The Grand View Building Long Couplet" has become a business card of Kunming, which is the artistic charm of China traditional calligraphy.
