Chen Jianzhong, the word Moquan, was born in 1950. His ancestral home is Tongwei, Gansu. He graduated from Tongwei No.1 Middle School and used to be a primary school teacher in Puxiang No.3 Middle School. Now he is a first-class painter of China Academy of Fine Arts, a member of Gansu Calligraphers Association, a member of China Qinwen Research Association and a senior painter of Beijing Guo Yi Painting and Calligraphy Institute.
His works have been exhibited in Gansu Provincial Museum for many times, and he has participated in many national, provincial and municipal painting and calligraphy exhibitions and won awards. In 2005, he won the first "Cao Sheng Award" and was included in "Grand View of China Calligraphy Masters". In 2004, he was selected into the 2nd China Changde Poets and Painting and Calligraphy Art "Selected Works of National Painting and Calligraphy Art Exhibition", won the first prize in the 2005 "Song of Lei Feng" National Painting and Calligraphy Competition, won the silver prize in the first "Painting Saint Wu Daozi" Art Museum Contemporary China Painting and Calligraphy Competition, and won the silver prize in the first China Poetry and Calligraphy Art Exhibition.
His works have been selected into the Classic of Painting and Calligraphy Creation of Contemporary Outstanding Scholars in China in 2005, Contemporary Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition in China, National Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition in 2006 to commemorate the 85th anniversary of the China Communist Party, Poetry and Painting Exhibition of Li Culture Cup in Gansu in 2007 and Art Library of Contemporary Calligraphers in Gansu in 2009.
