Poetry with pictures

The poems are accompanied by paintings as follows:

Wang Anshi, in "Chunfu published a poem about Hui Chong's paintings", also said: "There are so many paintings in the history, but Hui Chong came out late and I am the best." Verses like "Xu". It can be seen that Wang Anshi admired Hui Chong's paintings very much. He admired Hui Chong's painting techniques very much. This also shows that Hui Chong's paintings were well-known at that time.

Due to the age and the difficulty of preserving the paintings, very few of Hui Chong’s paintings have been handed down. There are only three of Hui Chong’s paintings in existence today: “Smoke Trees in the Satine”, “River Creek” "Spring Dawn in the Mountains" and "Double Mandarin Ducks in Qiupu".

Colored on silk in "Smoke Trees in Shading", now in the collection of Liaoning Provincial Museum. In the painting, the water flows slowly and diagonally divides the two banks. The sandbar lies horizontally. There are waterweeds and duckweeds near the bank, and plants on both banks. lush. The vastness, mist, and elegant ink color are the biggest features of "Smoke Trees in Satine".

Hui Chong's "Spring Dawn in Streams and Mountains" is now in the Palace Museum in Beijing. The picture shows the landscape of the south of the Yangtze River. The entire picture scroll is connected by a background of lofty mountains, with lush trees and willows on the shore. There are boats and birds in the middle of the river, and the tranquility reaches far away. The most distinctive feature of "Spring Dawn in Streams and Mountains" is the ethereal and distant landscape reflected by the colors of mountains and lakes.

Hui Chong's "Double Mandarin Ducks in Qiupu" is similar in size to "Smoke Trees in Satine". The scenery depicted in "Qiupu Two Mandarin Ducks" is: the lotus leaves on the shore are broken, and the reeds are withered. Above Zhouzhu, a pair of mandarin ducks and waterbirds rested on the shore. One turned its neck to comb its feathers, and the other stared straight ahead. The two mandarin ducks are so lifelike. The simple and elegant colors also make the autumn atmosphere more intense.

In his painting poem "Two Broken Branches Painted by the Master of the King of Eling", Su Shi put forward the theory that "the poems and paintings are the same, both natural and fresh". "" There is a theory of painting creation that "there is painting in the poem, and there is poetry in the painting".

For example, in the article "Shu Pu Yongsheng Painting Queen", Su Shi proposed the important techniques of painting water. He believed that there is a difference between "dead water" and "living water" when painting water, and believed that all works of art not only It requires "similarity in form" and "similarity in spirit"

For example, Su Shi wrote in the article: "In ancient and modern water paintings, most of them are flat, distant and finely wrinkled. Those who are good at them can only make the waves rise and fall, making people feel like they are with their hands." When you look at it, you can see that there are hollows and ridges, which I think is wonderful."
