As a politician of the Kuomintang, Yu Xiansheng was too busy with government affairs to socialize. In the 1940s, Hu Gongshi made body double for Yu Xiansheng. As far as I know, Mr. Yu Youren was invited to personally appraise the calligraphy exhibition held in Ann in 1980s. In order to ensure the academic purity and seriousness of calligraphy, he eliminated some works written by masters (including his own).
1963, Yu Youren and Liu Yantao, Taiwan Province Province initiated the establishment of the standard cursive script society. In order to carry forward the standard cursive script and promote the reunification of the motherland, 1984, at the initiative of Mr. Hu, the Standard Cursive Script Society was established in Beijing. At his home, I saw him take a group photo with Qi Gong, Zhao Puchu, Wu Qu (the above three are consultants of the Standard Cursive Society) and Yang Xin (then director of the Education and Culture Department of Ningxia). Black and white photos, enlarged and mounted, hung high in Hu Lao's study. In recent years, the society has made outstanding contributions to the cultural exchange between China and Japan and the great cause of the reunification of the motherland.
Some colleagues in the calligraphy circle are quite critical of "standard cursive script", thinking that cursive script should be colorful and colorful. If it is a "standard", how can we talk about art? The author once asked Mr. Hu about this. Mr. Wang thinks: "Calligraphers have different temperament and styles." There are different ways to carry a pen, dry or wet, slow or dry. Even if everyone writes a standard cursive script, it is by no means a thousand people. Just like Yu Xiansheng and I, one is south and the other is north, one is soft and the other is hard, and the style is very different. In addition, advocating standard cursive script is by no means abandoning Cao Zhang, Jincao and Crazy Grass. He said: "What we mean by standard cursive script is the standardization and normalization of brushwork in cursive script, which is different from calligrapher's cursive script style and genre, such as vigor or grace, just like writing an article with emphasis on grammar, the style of the article can be different, and the two are not contradictory. Some comrades think that to advocate the standardization of cursive script is to demand a thousand people in cursive script, which is a complete misunderstanding. "
Hu Lao's creative attitude is very serious and meticulous. On one occasion, Xixia Park asked him to write a garden name. He wrote at least seven or eight, and finally chose one of them to give to Xixia Park.
One summer day, I saw him preparing for his solo calligraphy exhibition. His study is full of calligraphy works, and he is sweating profusely. One of the banners was wrongly written, so he immediately erased it and threw it into the wastebasket. I said, "It doesn't matter if you make a mistake. Give me this. " Hu Lao said, "How can you hand over a mistake? The work is the face of the author! I'll give you a good one. " Later, I found that no matter when and where I saw Hu Lao's book, I didn't see any typos, which shows the rigor of Hu Lao's academic spirit.
At the end of April 1984, the company sent me to Dalian to buy a boiler. After I arrived in Dalian, the manufacturer was out of stock and could not supply it until the next year. But our company had to provide heating in those days! During the negotiation, I found that the chief of supply and marketing loves calligraphy very much, so I chatted with him about the relationship between Han and Mo. When he learned that I was a disciple of Mr. Hu Gongshi, he asked for a calligraphy by Hu Lao, and I promised him at once. After returning to Ning, I told Hu Lao about it. When Hu Lao asked his name, he immediately wrote a couplet, "Look at the rising sun on the horizon and the green hills on the sea." That autumn, I went to Dalian to rush the goods, and before the middle of winter, I shipped the boiler back to my unit.
During the period of 1989, floods occurred in Anhui and Jiangsu provinces of China, and Hu Lao was on pins and needles after learning the news. In order to support the disaster area, he held a charity sale of calligraphy works in Yinchuan. He personally set up a stall in the street to explain the contents of the writing to the masses. Santianyi sold nearly 6,543,800 yuan, all of which were donated to the disaster area. Hu Lao's integrity of "worrying about the world first" can be seen from this.
199 1 years ago, in front of Nanjing, Hu laodiao left me Mo Bao's "A hundred rivers are full, and a thousand walls stand without desire." Hu Lao also wrote the last paragraph of Notes on Ming Jian Lao Di Ya. A few times, I was sulking because of my unsatisfactory work, and I was very upset when I got home. Seeing this couplet written by Hu Lao, Shao Mu's words wandered in my heart, and my anger slowly disappeared.
Under the influence of Hu Lao, I worked hard to practice the standard cursive script, and I worked tirelessly in cold and hot weather. 1993, Hu Lao held the "Sino-Japanese standard cursive joint exhibition" in Nanjing. /kloc-more than 0/00 China authors participated in the exhibition, and Ningxia selected 4 people, including my works.
As far as I know, after he arrived in Nanjing, regardless of his 84-year-old age, he went to Fusang to exchange standard cursive scripts with Japanese scholars. 1996, he came to Taiwan Province again and met his brother Liu Yantao whom he had not seen for nearly 50 years. He was particularly happy that he went to the grave of Mr. Yu Youren to pay homage to his teacher. A large-scale standard cursive joint exhibition was held in Japan and Taiwan Province Province. He devoted his life to the cause of standard cursive script that he loved.
