Zhuge Liang’s personal profile

Zhuge Liang (181 AD - October 8, 234 AD), courtesy name Kongming and nickname Wolong, was a native of Yangdu, Langya, Xuzhou (now Yinan County, Linyi City, Shandong Province). He was the prime minister of Shu during the Three Kingdoms period and an outstanding political figure. Strategist, military strategist, diplomat, writer, calligrapher, inventor.

The six Northern Expeditions to the Central Plains were mostly spent on food but in vain. He eventually became ill due to overwork and died of illness in Wuzhangyuan (now Qishan, Baoji, Shaanxi) in the twelfth year of Jianxing Shu (234) at the age of 54.

Main achievements

During his stay in Hanzhong, Zhuge Liang took advantage of the economic conditions in Hanzhong and adopted a series of measures to develop production according to local conditions. With the effective measures, the military resources of the Northern Expedition were basically solved on the spot. After Zhuge Liang's death, the Shu Han army retreated, and the Wei army also "obtained a lot of books, grain and cereals from him" in the Shu camp.

This just illustrates the effect of Zhuge Liang's dismissal of soldiers and farmers, and the implementation of military garrison farming and warfare. When the local people live a better life, they can attract more people, allowing the vast and sparsely populated Hanzhong to develop again, and gradually achieve a virtuous cycle of more people and more food, so that the people can "live in peace and enjoy their jobs."

Anecdotes and allusions

One sword was worn by Liu Bei himself, and the remaining seven were given to Liu Chan, Liu Yong, and others respectively. Liu Li, Zhuge Liang, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Zhao Yun. Each sword was given a nice name, and Zhuge Liang was asked to inscribe on the sword.

After the fall of the Shu Han Dynasty, the whereabouts of the Eight Swords, the Lord of Shu, have been unknown. Later, Zhuge Liang's sword Zhang Wujian was acquired by Li Shigu. Li Shigu took the sword as his own and renamed it Shigu Sword. ?
