In the 30th year of Guangxu reign in Qing Dynasty (1904), Ding Fuzhi, Wang Fuan, Ye Weiming and Wu Yin, four seal engravers of Zhejiang School, bought land and built houses next to Qifeng Pavilion in Gushan, and set up printing houses. In the late Qing Dynasty, the research and development of epigraphy was in its heyday. Many famous epitaphs are interested in carrying forward and developing the quintessence of Chinese culture. Hangzhou seal engravers Wang Fuan, Ding Fuzhi, Ye Weiming and Wu Yin all gathered at the West Lake to discuss printing.
Therefore, they formed an association by the Xiling Bridge at the southern foot of Gushan Mountain and named it "Xiling Printing Society".
Xiling Seal Cutting Society is the oldest existing literati art society in China, and the first professional academic group focusing on epigraphy and seal cutting in China. Xiling Press is registered in People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People's Republic of China, but it also enjoys a high reputation in Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and Southeast Asia. It is a national mass organization with lofty status and international influence in China's traditional cultural circles.
Since the establishment of Xiling Printing Society 100 years ago, it has been aiming at "preserving epigraphy and studying printing calligraphy", focusing on seal cutting creation and printing research, and at the same time devoting itself to calligraphy, painting, classical poetry, collection identification, archaeology, writing and other related disciplines, paying attention to the cultivation of traditional literati's comprehensive cultural literacy.

Seal is an important element in the development of human civilization. Many forms of civilization, such as ancient Egypt, Babylon, Sumer, China, etc. There have been lettering, but the writing system born in this form has been inherited and still has vitality. Only the seals in China survived.
