Zhang Daqian (1899-1983), a native of Neijiang, Sichuan, was born on May 10, 1899 (the first day of the fourth lunar month) in the suburbs of Neijiang County, Sichuan Province A family from a scholarly family in Xiangbizuiyantangwan, Anliangli. His original name was Zhang Zhengquan, also known as Yuan, also known as Ji Yuan, nicknamed Daqian, and also nicknamed Daqian Jushi. He was a native of Neijiang City, Sichuan Province. Legend has it that before his birth, his mother dreamed of an old man sending a little ape into his house at night, so when he was 21 years old, he changed his name to Yuan, also known as Yuan and Ji Yuan. Later he became a monk with the Buddhist name Daqian, so people also called him "Daqian layman". Zhang Daqian is the most legendary traditional Chinese painting master in the Chinese painting circle in the 20th century. He knows everything from painting, calligraphy, seal cutting, and poetry. In his early days, he concentrated on studying ancient calligraphy and painting, especially in landscape painting. After living overseas, he combined painting style with craftsmanship and calligraphy, and integrated heavy color and ink painting, especially splash-ink and splash-color, creating a new artistic style.
