Introduction to Changzhou Tianning Pagoda

Changzhou Tianning Temple is a key protected temple in my country and a cultural relics protection unit in Jiangsu Province. It is known as the "No. 1 Jungle in Southeast". Changzhou Tianning Temple stands outside the east gate of Changzhou, overlooking the world-famous Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal in front, and leaning against Hongmei Park, the largest park in Changzhou, behind it. It is the largest and best-preserved thousand-year-old ancient temple in Changzhou. It is characterized by five major features: "Dian Da, Buddha Da, Bell Da, Drum Da, Baoding Da". It is known as the "No. 1 Jungle in Southeast". Changzhou Tianning Temple was built in the Yonghui period of the Tang Dynasty and has a history of more than 1,300 years. The founder of Tianning Temple was Zen Master Farong. Emperor Qianlong visited Tianning Temple in Changzhou three times to burn incense and inscribed "Longcheng Xiangjiao" plaques and couplets on the temple. Under the eaves, there are three large golden plaques inscribed by Zhao Puchu, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, president of the Chinese Buddhist Association and famous contemporary calligrapher "Tianwang Hall". In the Arhat Hall, there are five hundred Arhats with majestic golden bodies and different expressions. The main hall is the largest Buddhist hall in the temple and houses three great Buddhas, commonly known as the "Three Buddhas", namely the Sakyamuni Buddha in the center, the Medicine Buddha of the Eastern World and the Amitabha Buddha of the Western Paradise, embedded on the walls on both sides of the hall. There are 518 stone carvings of Arhats, and their artistic level is even rarer. They are regarded as treasures in the temple. Tianning Temple attracts thousands of people with its long history, majestic architecture, unique Buddhist statues and numerous achievements in Buddhism. Tens of thousands of tourists at home and abroad. Located at No. 728, Jiefang Road, south of Hongmei Park in Changzhou City, it was first built in the Yonghui period of the Tang Dynasty (650-655 AD) and was originally named Guangfu Temple in the first year of Zhenghe in the Northern Song Dynasty (1111 AD). It was renamed to its current name and has a history of more than 1,300 years. It has been destroyed and renamed several times, and has been praised as "the first jungle in the southeast" and "the crown of Buddhist temples in the county". The main buildings of Tianning Temple include eight halls and two temples. The 15th Hall, the 24th Floor, etc. When you enter the mountain gate, you will see the spacious courtyard, facing the Heavenly King Hall. On the left and right sides of the hall are the four heavenly kings, which is the tallest statue of the same kind in the country. Sitting on the white marble altar, the Buddhist niche has raised eaves and 90 Buddha statues carved on the top. It is exquisite and beautiful. On the left and right sides of the Tianwang Hall are the Puxian Hall and the Manjusri Hall. On both sides of the courtyard outside the back door are the Arhat Halls, which worship five hundred Arhats. The main hall has double eaves and nine ridges, with a height of 33 meters, a width of 26 meters, and a depth of 27 meters. The large iron wood pillars are about 30 meters high. It is known as "the towering sky, the golden clouds and the clouds". There are statues of the Third Tathagata, with Ananda and Kassapa standing in the middle, and the island Guanyin, also known as the boy worshiping Guanyin, on both sides of the hall. There is a huge bell in the right front corner of the hall, weighing 4 tons. In the front left corner is a large drum with a diameter of about 2 meters. In the back right corner of the hall is a bronze Buddha presented by the Thai Buddhist Association. On the left and right sides of the Main Hall are the Ksitigarbha Hall and the Guanyin Hall. There are brick-carved statues of Five Hundred Arhats on the east and south sides of the Guanyin Hall, with different and lifelike expressions. Behind the Main Hall, there are also buildings such as the Sutra Library, Guanyin, Ksitigarbha, and Samantabhadra. The Four Halls of Manjusri symbolize the four mountains of Putuo, Jiuhua, Emei and Wutai. Therefore, people used to say that anyone who burned incense at Tianning Temple was like having visited the four famous mountains of Buddhism. Near Tianning Temple, there are also places of interest such as Hongmei Pavilion, Wenbi Pagoda, and Sizhou Pavilion. The thousand-year-old Tianning Zen Temple has been rebuilt in Tang and Song style pagodas in recent years. The pagoda was named "Tianning Pagoda" to wish peace to the world. The pagoda has a total construction area of ??27,000 square meters, with up to 13 floors. It has an octagonal layout and a total height of 153.79 meters, making it the highest pagoda in China so far. The pagoda adopts the form of a diamond throne tower, with one master, four brake rods and five brake rods standing side by side, with steel inside and gold outside, and the lighting displays colorful splendor. There are more than 2,000 small white marble pagodas in Tallinn, and the whole white marble guardrail is engraved with scriptures. For the first time, the pagoda uses bronze inscribed tiles engraved with Buddhist auspicious sayings such as "Dragon City Xiangjiao". The exterior of the tower is decorated with 50,000 pieces of Buddha-engraved jade.

Bronze plaques are placed on each floor of the pagoda, and wind chimes are placed on the cornices and corners... The whole pagoda is spectacular, heavy, fresh and elegant. At the end of 2005, it stood in the treasure land of Dragon City.
