History:

In the seventh year of Yuan Taizong (1235), Kaiyuan Wan Hu House was located in Heilongjiang, and then moved to Huanglong House (now Nong 'an County, Jilin Province). In the second year of Yuan Chengzong Yuan Zhen (1286), Kaiyuan Wan Hu House was changed to Kaiyuan Road. In the twenty-first year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1388), Kaiyuan Road Administration moved to Xianpingfu (now Kaiyuan Old Town, Liaoning Province) and changed its original site, hence the name "Kaiyuan". Kaiyuan ancient city is one of the earliest ancient cities in Ming Dynasty, and is known as "the ancient city in northern Liaoning".

In the early days of liberation, it belonged to western Liaoning Province. 1954 belongs to Liaoning province. It is a county under the jurisdiction of Tieling area. It is now a county under the jurisdiction of Tieling City. 1988, kaiyuan county was abolished and kaiyuan city (county level) was established.

Kaiyuan has a long history and many historical sites. As early as the Neolithic Age, human beings thrived here, and it was the military center of Kanto from pre-Qin to Ming and Qing Dynasties. After the founding of New China, it belongs to Liaoning Province. 1989 Withdraw county and set up city. The ancient buildings of Chongshou Temple, Mosque, Longtan Temple, Bell and Drum Tower, Beacon Tower, Liubianbian, Koguryo Mountain City and other sites constitute the unique cultural landscape of Kaiyuan. There are four generals: Gao Cunxin, Lu Ya, Tao Jia and Liao Zhongfu. Kaiyuan is one of the birthplaces of Errenzhuan in Northeast China with strong local characteristics, and folk arts such as calligraphy, painting, paper-cutting and root carving have a unique Kanto style. Zhao Benshan, a famous comedian, went to the whole country from the black land of Kaiyuan. Through TV dramas such as Liu Laogen, Ma Dashuai One, Two, Three and Country Love filmed in Kaiyuan, the beautiful small town in northern Liaoning was presented to the national TV audience, paving the way for Kaiyuan to go to the whole country and the world.
