Fang Rui’s profile

Fang Rui, a national first-class actor. He once served as the deputy director of the Hebei Provincial Theater, a member of the Chinese Dramatists Association, a member of the Hebei Branch of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, and a consultant of the Shaanxi Branch of the Excalibur Literary and Art Society.

Fang Rui was born into a prominent family in Shanghai. His mother was a famous Chinese painter and had a close friendship with He Xiangning. Fang Rui was the adopted son of He Xiangning. Since his youth, Fang Rui gave up his superior living environment and joined the revolutionary ranks, first as an actor and then as a leader in the military art troupe.

In 1957, he was mistakenly classified as "rightist". At the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Fang Rui's problems were corrected, and he was transferred to the Hebei Provincial Theater as the deputy director, and played many major and important roles.
