"Preface to Prince Teng's Pavilion" was created in 675 AD.
In 675 AD (the second year of the Yuan Dynasty of Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty), in order to celebrate the completion of the Tengwang Pavilion, Yan Gong gathered guests on September 9th and asked his son-in-law Wu Zizhang to write a preface to honor his name. Unexpectedly, while pretending to be humble, Wang Bo wrote as soon as he picked up the pen. Yan Gongchu left the table angrily in the name of "changing clothes" and gathered people to wait for him to write. When he first heard that "the old county of Yuzhang is the new mansion of Hongdu", Yan Gong felt that "it is also a cliché"; next, "the stars divide into wings, and the ground connects to Henglu". When he heard this, he pondered and said nothing; when he heard about "the falling clouds and the "The solitary swans are flying together, the autumn water is the same color as the sky." I was shocked, "This true genius will be immortal!" I stood on the side and looked at it, so I invited him to the banquet, and he was very happy.
The full name of "Preface to Tengwang Pavilion" is "Farewell Preface to Tengwang Pavilion in Denghong Mansion in Autumn", also known as "Preface to Poems of Tengwang Pavilion", a famous parallel prose piece. Tengwang Pavilion is located on the bank of Ganjiang River in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province. It was first built when Li Yuanying, Prince of Teng, the son of Emperor Gaozu of the Tang Dynasty, was appointed governor of Hongzhou (AD 653). Later, Yan Boyu became the shepherd of Hongzhou. He held a banquet for a group of officials in the pavilion. Wang Bo, the provincial father, passed by here and made it impromptu. The article describes the situation and scenery around Tengwang Pavilion and the grand banquet, and expresses the author's emotion of "having no way to ask for a tassel".
