The building foundation is a brick square pier with arched through-hole openings on all sides, corresponding to the four gates of east, west, north and south respectively. There is a wooden structure, a pavilion on the top of the mountain, and a big clock hanging upstairs, about two tons, cast in iron, Tang and Song Dynasties. At the beginning of the bell, it is used to tell the time, announce the morning and evening, open the city gate and ring the bell in the morning and evening 108. In the north of the Drum Tower, there is a pair of couplets written by Mei Xiaoshu, a Tianjin poet in the Qing Dynasty: "Open high and board quickly, and watch the 72 sails;" Whoever wakes up in prosperity will listen to the bell sooner or later.
