Who wrote the People's Bank of China?

The People’s Bank of China was written by Ma Wenwei.

Who wrote the Chinese characters on the second set of RMB and later RMB has always been a mystery because there are no detailed records in the archives. The mystery was not revealed until more than 30 years later, in 1983. It turns out that the Chinese characters on the second set of RMB were written by Mr. Ma Wenwei, who was a financial researcher at the People's Bank of China at the time.

On March 1, 1983, a newspaper published an article saying that the Chinese characters on the RMB were not written by Ma Wenwei. After Mr. Ma found out, he wrote a letter to the head office of the People's Bank of China requesting that the matter be implemented.

Only half a month after receiving this letter, the head office sent Comrade Chen Rong from the Financial Research Institute and senior arts and crafts artist Zhang Zuodong to Yangqu County, taking the head office’s “Top Secret No. 1” file as a Investigation and technical appraisal confirmed that several sets of ink handwriting left in the archives were exactly the same as Mr. Ma’s calligraphy. Although these inks were not signed, it could still be determined that they were written by Mr. Ma.
