How to take notes while reading

Taking notes when reading is indispensable. This will improve your concentration, make it easier to think, and understand the author's thoughts.

There are many ways to take notes, and there are several commonly used ones:

First, draw lines. Underline key sentences and key words. If the key part of the line drawing is relatively long and you want to highlight some keywords, you can draw another horizontal line below the horizontal line, or draw a dotted line or a circle.

Second, mark. There can be several types, such as marking the blank spaces with asterisks, numbers, page numbers, vertical lines, etc. If you want to emphasize some passages or ideas in the book, you can put an asterisk next to it or draw a vertical line. If there are several consecutive ideas spread over several pages, number them in the margins. If there is a page that is related to the content of other pages, you can mark the corresponding page number next to it. This way, seeing the mark can jog the memory.

Third, record. While reading, you may suddenly have some inspiration, some questions, or some thoughts. At this time, it is best to record them in the blank space in time. You can also extract a few words or a sentence from a paragraph that you think is important and summarize it in the blank space. Some of the more extreme ones even make a mind map. This can deepen the impression and help review and understand the point that the author wants to express.

The above three methods of drawing, marking, and recording are all very common and effective methods for taking reading notes. You can choose to use them according to your own reading habits.
