In the eleventh year of Hongzhi in Ming Dynasty, Tang Bohu, a talented young man, went to Nanjing to take the Yingtianfu rural examination. He won the first place in high school and won the reputation of Tang Jieyuan. However, when he went to Beijing to take the examination, he was accidentally involved in the examination fraud case and experienced a prison sentence. When I finally got out of prison, I was faced with my wife's supercilious look and hopeless career, so I went out of my way and sent my love to painting and calligraphy. But most of Tang Bohu's paintings handed down from ancient times were pictures of ladies, so Tang Bohu's paintings never painted tigers.
1. Tang Bohu, who has a wide range of knowledge, has the opportunity to take tigers as the object of painting, no matter when he was a teenager.
Tang Bohu was a teenager, and he met many famous people in Suzhou in his youth. At about the age of fourteen, I met Zhu Yunming's word Xizhe, who was eleven years older than him, and was "good at drinking and drinking, and not practicing". He had branches and fingers, so he called himself Zhishan. This famous romantic leader is famous for his debauchery, gambling, drinking, lewdness, writing and calligraphy. He is very appreciative of the intelligent Tang Bohu and tries his best to give him guidance in his studies, but what should have a greater influence on Tang Yin is his debauchery and romantic behavior.
It can be said that Zhu Zhishan is more like the catalyst of Tang Yin's loose and wild personality. He unconsciously assumed the role of the first teacher of Tang Yin's romantic debauchery, while Tang Yin's unruly, romantic and complacent personality also laid the groundwork for his future life tragedy. Judging from Tang Bohu's life experience and personality, he dabbled in a wide range, so he definitely chose a wide range of paintings. As an important animal in his name, the tiger is likely to enter his descriptive field of vision.
2. Tang Bohu, who suffered blows one after another, coincidentally confirmed his own fate and the meaning of "White Tiger and Star King", so Tang Bohu became a white tiger in Tang Dynasty, which provided a spiritual picture for his tiger painting.
Tang Bohu, who was full of ambition, won the first place after obtaining the provincial examination in Nanjing, and his flowery future seemed to be in sight, but a case of cheating in the imperial examination pushed him into the abyss of life. It's hard to say clearly whether Tang Yin cheated in the exam or was implicated in prison, but from the relevant information and the consistent style of Tang Yin's character, it seems difficult for him to say that he is innocent. There is no doubt that this incident brought a great blow to Tang Yin. He was triumphant. While he was still dreaming of getting ahead, he suddenly fell into the abyss, lost his fame and fame, and finally went to prison to lose his reputation and suffer humiliation. Since then, his life has changed.
"White Tiger" has a special meaning in the oriental astrological culture system. It represents the god of the western stars in the ancient four-elephant system of China-White Tiger Star King, which symbolizes disaster and misfortune. Throughout Tang Bohu's subsequent fate, he suffered successive blows. His wife left him, his son died, and his adopted son died. Life was always unsatisfactory, and the meaning of the white tiger has entered his life.
3. The White Tiger in Frost Forest in Huai 'an Museum is probably the White Tiger in Frost Forest in Huai 'an Museum by Tang Bohu, which contains many mysteries, such as: First, it depicts the tiger in Pingchuan, which is inconsistent with the usual painting picture; Secondly, it depicts the white tiger, which has a bad meaning and does not conform to the aesthetics of the ancients; Third, it depicts a tiger with a broken tail, which seems to contain the fate of Tang Bohu's successive childlessness and even no future, which is extremely tragic in the eyes of the ancients; Fourthly, it depicts the white tiger with a sad look, which seems to be a portrayal of Tang Bohu's fate and mood in the Peach Blossom Temple.
More crucially, this White Tiger in Frost Forest has no money, only one seal of Tang White Tiger, and the painting method and shape of the stone in Frost Forest White Tiger Map are very consistent with the stone styles in Tang Yin's Chrysanthemum Appreciation in Dongli, Chrysanthemum Appreciation in Tao Qian and Fishing Hidden in Xishan.
In a word, no matter from the name, life experience and fate, or from the ownerless legacy, Tang Bohu painted tigers for three reasons:
First, Tang Bohu's youth is romantic, and his calligraphy and painting are unique. Most of the people handed down today are beautiful women's flowers and birds, but painters dabble in a wide range and later use them for entertainment, so they should paint tigers;
Secondly, Tang Bohu is Tang Yin's word, which was later changed to Ziwei, and it is also the name of fear as a tiger. It has the seal of Tang White Tiger, and the white tiger makes fun of his ill-fated life, so it is a move to draw a tiger;
Thirdly, the White Tiger in Frost Forest in Huai 'an Museum has no money, but it is very consistent with Tang Bohu's painting style in terms of brushwork and conception, and it is recognized as Tang Bohu's painting.
