Letter source:
Go back to Chapters 6 and 5 of Adventures Witnessed in Twenty Years: "This manuscript is very dense in Yunxiu, which contains all kinds of letters from generations to seize land and widows, as well as false words to others." Lu Xun's Collection of Letters to Zheng Zhenduo: "I think it is best not to discuss it with me in the future, because it takes time for letters to come and go, which hinders the speed of progress." Mao Dun said on three sides, "He went to the desk and opened a small wooden box full of letters."
Value:
Letters belong to manuscripts in typology and have their own uniqueness. Letters are generally only directed at the recipient or a small number of people around him. Letters can often reveal the writer's true feelings, tell the truth and record historical details closer to the truth. They can be used as important reference materials for studying related historical events and can be regarded as a history of faith.
Reading original letters is far more reliable than reading memoirs and autobiographies, not to mention biographies written by others. Because all historians attach importance to first-hand original historical materials. This is the documentary value of letters. If the author is a painter, his calligraphy is still of artistic value. Letters are easy to preserve and circulate because of their narrow format, while other large paper products of the same period are not so lucky. Small has the advantages of small, not only exquisite but also conducive to inheritance.
