Who knows the history of "Lingering in the Garden"?

Lingering Garden was built in the 21st year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (AD 1593). It is the private garden of Master Shao Qingxu in Taibu Temple. It was called Dongyuan at that time. At that time, the East Garden was "magnificent, graceful and luxurious, and the front building and the back hall were drunk". Rui Yunfeng's "A Bridge of Smoke in the South of the Yangtze River" and the stone screen piled up by Dieshan master Zhou are exquisite and steep, "just like a landscape painting". Today, the Huangshi rockfill in the lower part of the rockery in Zhongchi and Xichi seems to be the remains of that year.

After Taishi's death, the "East Garden" was gradually abandoned. In the fifty-ninth year of Qingganlong (AD 1794), the park was acquired by Liu Shu, Dongshan, Wuxian County. It was rebuilt in the former site of "East Garden" and was built in the third year of Jiaqing (A.D. 1798). Due to the planting of white pine and black bamboo, the color of bamboo is cold.

Liu Shu, commonly known as "Liuyuan", likes famous calligraphy and painting. He embedded his belongings and ancient ritual stones in the gallery wall of the garden. Later garden owners inherited this ethos and gradually formed the characteristics of staying in the garden today.

Liu Shu likes stones. When he was managing the garden, he found twelve peaks and moved them into the garden. He wrote many articles, recorded the stone-seeking process and expressed his feelings. In the seventh year of Jiaqing (1802), the famous painter Wang Xuehao painted the twelve peaks of Hanbizhuang.

The Extended Information Garden is famous for its unique and natural exquisite architectural art. The layers of buildings and architectural space change endlessly, revealing each other, being dense, alternating with reality, being open and comfortable, which is amazing. Liuyuan covers an area of more than 30 mu, and buildings account for one-third of the total area.

The whole park is divided into four scenic spots with different themes and different landscapes: East, Middle, West and North. The scenic spots are separated by walls and connected by corridors, which are permeated with empty windows, leaky windows and cave doors. There are more than 670 meters of winding corridors and more than 200 leaky windows in the park.

As soon as you enter the gate, the architectural art of Liuyuan is extraordinary: in the narrow entrance, there is a winding walkway of more than 50 meters between two high walls. The gardener makes full use of the changes in space size, direction and light and shade to make this monotonous passage interesting. At the end of the corridor are fuzzy windows and caves, and the lakes and mountains in the central scenic spot are looming.

Bypassing the doors and windows, the scenery in front of you can be seen in an unobstructed view, achieving the artistic effect of wanting to promote and suppress first. The passageway in Lingering Garden creates a deepening atmosphere through interlocking space. Visitors see cloisters, courtyards and ever-changing architectural combinations.

The exquisite and gorgeous hall, quiet and leisurely study, rich and diverse courtyards, quiet and small patios, terraces and pavilions scattered at different heights and winding pavilions in the garden skillfully form a rhythmic whole.
