Lin Bu never records his poems. He always throws them away when he finishes writing them. He thinks that since he lives in seclusion in a ravine, he doesn't win fame by writing poems, but also cares about the evaluation of future generations, so he never keeps his own poems. There are more than 300 poems left now, all of which are secretly recorded by a willing heart. In his poem Plum in the Mountain Garden, he wrote two sentences: "The shadows are shallow, and the fragrance floats in the dusk", which successfully describes the charm of plum and is known as Yongmei's eternal swan song.
Lin Bu has great experience in painting, calligraphy and poetry, but Lin Bu's paintings have never been published. He is also good at cursive writing, thin and powerful, and many scholars praise his calligraphy. For example, Lu You once praised Lin Bu's calligraphy as superior to most people, while Su Shi loved Lin Bu's poems, books and personality. Both Huang Tingjian and Shen Zhou once wrote poems for Lin Bu's ci. Lin Bu's calligraphy works are not many, only three, among which, the most famous is Poems from Books.
Lin Bu still has an eternal puzzle, that is, whether Lin Bu has a wife or not, which has been discussed by the world. Some people say that Lin Bu lost his wife in his early years, left home to live in seclusion, and also had descendants who had been to Japan. But some people say that if Lin Bu really has no wife and children, how on earth did he describe love so touching? After the demise of the Southern Song Dynasty, grave robbers opened Lin Bu's tomb, in which there was only one Guangdong inkstone and one Hosta. Therefore, according to this Hosta, people think that Lin Bu must have a confidante.
