The humanistic environment of Guizhou University Chinese Culture Academy

The Chinese Culture Academy has cool cultural scenery, a quiet natural environment, classical garden architecture, and a strong cultural atmosphere. It is a quiet home for teachers and students to study and work. The whole courtyard is dominated by classical garden architectural style, supplemented by modern architectural elements. It is surrounded by mountains and rivers, with winding walls, winding paths and pavilions. The academy is the venue for the Guizhou Province Humanities and Social Sciences Base Construction Experience Exchange Meeting and one of the first five major humanities and social sciences key bases in Guizhou Province. On the east side of the academy gate is a stele donated by the Jinping County People's Government, engraved with the four characters "Guishan Academy". Guishan Academy was founded in the 13th year of Yongzheng reign (1735). It was the leader of the three major academies in Guizhou during the Qing Dynasty. It not only inherited Yangming Academy founded during the Zhengde period of the Ming Dynasty, but also was the predecessor of Guizhou University. Guishan Academy has cultivated a large number of talents and has a great influence in the southwest region and even the country. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, a large number of talents emerged in Guizhou, forming a cultural prosperity situation of "7,000 candidates and 800 Jinshi", and a considerable part of them were talents cultivated by Guishan Academy.

The six characters "Chinese Culture Academy" are inscribed in front of the crossbeam of the stone plaque at the main entrance of the academy, which was written by Mr. Ren Jiyu, Director of the National Library. On the west side of the wall behind the gate is the "Academic Regulations of Guizhou University Chinese Culture Academy", which contains ten articles, conveying the philosophy of running a school and scientific research. It mainly emphasizes the unity of learning and life, the unity of knowledge and personality, the unity of theory and practice, the unity of "morality and perfection" and "erudite knowledge and sincere practice".

On the east side of the back wall of the gate is a stone inscription of "Liyun Datong Chapter", which was a gift from the Taiwan Chinese New Culture and Education Association and the Taiwan Guizhou Association. "Liyun Datong Chapter" emphasizes that "the journey of the great road, the world is for the common good, selecting the talented and capable, adhering to trust and cultivating harmony." It expresses the realization of progress and harmony of the highest ideal of mankind through staged and step-by-step gradual development. Realize the ultimate ideal of poetic dwelling. The gift of "Liyun Datong Chapter" from Taiwanese friends also expresses the common desire of the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait for peaceful reunification.

On the east wall inside the gate, there is a vertical scroll of "Chinese Culture Academy" inscribed by Mr. Kong Decheng, and next to it are ten "Guizhou University Chinese Culture Academy Rules and Regulations". Mr. Kong Decheng is the 77th direct descendant of Confucius and the president of the Taiwan Examination Yuan. He has long been committed to cultural and peace work and has great influence at home and abroad. The "Regulations" emphasize that "academies are places for educating talents, and they should work hard, respect academics, be strict in order, and be neat and tidy" and advocate "purifying people's hearts, correcting the world's customs, abandoning frivolousness and elegance, and turning luxury into frugality." The Mian Xuetang is a solemn lecture hall for the college to cultivate morality, preach and resolve doubts. It hosts various major academic activities of the school. The college holds four seasons lectures and special speeches by international friends all year round.

It has an inscription by Wen Zhengming, with fine painting skills and lofty artistic conception. The Youyi Pavilion is located on the west side of the academy. There is an osmanthus flower in the middle, which is graceful and graceful. The fragrance is diffused in autumn, so it is also called the Osmanthus Pavilion.

Chinese culture emphasizes that "you can die if you listen to the Tao in the morning." There is a solemn and sacred side of thinking about major issues in life, and there is also a relaxed and lively side. , that is, to reveal the world of human temperament in an artistic way and to fully and comprehensively realize the value of human life. Since Confucius, Chinese culture has emphasized the cultivation of human temperament, the spirit of a snowman, the sea and the sky, the flying kites and the leaping fish, and the liveliness and vitality that can lead to the highest state of life. Chinese culture believes that human temperament must have reasonable channels to express emotions, and has always attached great importance to artistic cultivation methods.

Music, chess, calligraphy and painting are not only an important way for literati to express their artistic realm, but also a symbol of the personality and spiritual self-positioning of the scholar-bureaucrats. Among the four elements of music, chess, calligraphy and painting, the qin crown is the first, which can best express the pursuit of inner life and is also the cohesive symbol of traditional elegant gatherings and singing. Therefore, a piano pavilion was specially set up to commend the artistic spirit of Chinese culture. There are ten research institutions and more than 20 researchers in Lidao Building. To encourage people means to strive for academic truth. It shows that all colleagues in the academy take academics as their mission, pursue profound knowledge, explore the true nature of the universe, and understand the true meaning of life. At the same time, they also maintain the dignity of academics and abide by academic norms.

There is a couplet hanging on the south door of Lidao Building: Nourish the righteousness of the universe and cultivate talents in the world.

There is also a couplet on the main entrance to the east: The saint praises and criticizes, carrying the frost front, to illuminate the universe; teachers and students in Guizhou respect Mount Tai and look up to the high mountains.

There are many handwritings and portraits of Wang Yangming engraved on the east wall of Lidao Tower. Among them, the word "wash the heart" best expresses the spiritual characteristics of Yangming's philosophy of mind. Hanyuan Reading Building means climbing high and reaching far, broadening your mind, expanding your aspirations, looking at the world, and caring for mankind. In studying and studying, one must reach this level to be superior.

There is a couplet at the west entrance of the library: Streams of wisdom and water calm the fire of the heart; mountains send benevolent winds to sweep away the world.

The library contains a large number of Chinese classical literature and books, the more important ones include "Sikuquanshu", "Yongle Dadian", "Wanyou Library", "Qianlong Tripitaka", "Taisho Tibetan", " Jiaxing Collection", "Fanglue Quanshu" and a set of collections of Academia Sinica in Taiwan. The library integrates book collection, reading, and research, and can be used by all teachers and students of the school for reading and research. It is a place for literati and refined scholars to meet their calligraphy and painting brushes. It has a collection of more than 200 precious paintings and calligraphy works. The Chongde Room is the academy office. There is a couplet hanging outside the door: High mountains and steep mountains, Qianlongji; motto of morality and ethics.

The indoor collection contains a frame of the "Chongwu" calligraphy work of the famous Japanese scholar Dr. Takehiko Okada. In addition, there is also a couplet inscribed by Mr. Kong Decheng: "Advocating Yi, advocating Confucianism and praising freedom, and promoting democracy without discrimination".
