The saying about Qianlong writing the character "福".

There is no special explanation for Qianlong's writing of the word "Fu". The most famous one is the best blessing in the world written by Qianlong's grandfather Kangxi.

It is said that in the twelfth year of Kangxi's reign, at the height of his prosperity, the Empress Dowager Xiaozhuang, who had raised Kangxi for many years, suddenly fell seriously ill. At that time, all the doctors in the imperial hospital were helpless about the disease. Seeing that his grandmother's condition was getting worse, Emperor Kangxi, who had always been benevolent and filial, was also worried.

When he was helpless, Kangxi found out that in ancient times, there was a saying about "inheriting the emperor" to ask for blessings and longevity. ”, so he decided to pray for his grandmother.

After three days of bathing and fasting, I completed this painting with the word "福" that was filled with my deepest love for my grandmother, and stamped it with the seal of "Treasure of Kangxi Royal Brushstrokes", which means "good luck is in your head, good fortune is shining brightly. Suppress all evil spirits in the world."

Then he ordered a craftsman from the Ministry of Industry to carve the word "Fu" on a specially selected large bluestone. After the tablet with the word "Fu" was engraved, Emperor Kangxi knelt on the tablet and prayed to Heavenly Father for his grandmother to recover. Perhaps Kangxi's actions moved the Heavenly Father. After he prayed, his grandmother Xiaozhuang slowly recovered.

Kangxi was very happy. After that, he ordered people to enshrine the tablet with the word "Fu" in the Buddhist pavilion in the palace to continue to bless his grandmother's safety and prosperity. The Queen Mother Xiaozhuang also died of illness at the age of 75.

Later, this matter spread to the people, and the people believed that the word "Fu" written by Emperor Kangxi could cure diseases, eliminate disasters, extend life and increase blessings, so it was also called "Longevity Blessing". Emperor Kangxi himself thought so, but when he took up writing again, he could never write the same word "福".

Extended information:

After Qianlong succeeded to the throne, he bestowed "the greatest blessing in the world" on his favorite minister Heshen. Heshen ordered thousands of Taihu stones to be transported. He built a giant dragon in the back garden of his mansion. The position of this dragon happened to be on the dragon vein of the capital. He hid "the best blessing in the world" in the dragon's cave and worshiped it carefully.

The word "福" written by Emperor Kangxi contains infinite mystery and infinite blessings. Its character shape is narrow and elongated, so it is known among the people as "long, thin (longevity) and blessed". The right half of this character "福" happens to be the way the character "shou" is written in Wang Xizhi's "Lanting Preface". It is the only extant calligraphy in which blessing and longevity are written together. It is known among the people as "there is longevity in the blessing, and both happiness and longevity" ".

What is even more amazing is that this blessing is completely different from the folk word "Fu", which is called "clothing, wealth, and a field", and includes multiple Chinese characters. The strokes in the upper right corner look like "many", the bottom ones look like "field", the left half looks like the word "zi" and "cai", and the right half looks like the word "shou". The whole word "Fu" can be broken down into "many children, many talents, many fields," "Longevity and blessings" is a unique Chinese character that combines five blessings into one.

The word "田" in it has not yet been sealed, so it means boundless blessings and boundless blessings.
