2. Wang Xizhi's calligraphy is magical, ever-changing and unique. At its peak, it was regular script, running script and cursive script.
3. Wang Xizhi's calligraphy is recognized as the unparalleled "best running script in the world" by calligraphers of all ages. Wang Xizhi (A.D. 303 ~ 36 1), the most outstanding calligrapher in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, was born in Linyi, was a right general in Huiji, and was called "Wang Youjun".
At the age of seven, Wang Xizhi began to learn calligraphy. He studied under Mrs. Wei and his uncle Wang Xun, both of whom came from a calligraphy family. Later, I visited the exquisite works of Chun Gumao, a master of seal script in Qin and Han Dynasties. He carefully studied the style, copied his mind, learned from others, and merged into one furnace, creating a running script that was "natural, natural and rich in god" and was praised as a "book saint" by later generations. Professor Peking University and pioneer Li Zhimin commented: "Wang Xizhi's calligraphy not only shows simplicity and abstinence based on Laozi and Zhuangzi's philosophy, but also shows harmony based on Confucian golden mean." Calligraphy reached its peak in his later years, and Preface to Lanting was his masterpiece in his later years.
