Calligraphy mounting scroll

Scrolls, hand scrolls and hanging pictures are three different art forms or ways of presenting works, and there are some obvious differences between them.

1. Scroll: It is a mounting form of China's paintings and calligraphy, and its main feature is that it is equipped with a "shaft". Scroll is generally used to describe the situation that a workpiece is assembled into a shaft, but it can also be used to describe the situation that multiple workpieces are assembled into a shaft. When appreciating scroll works, you need to unfold them, browse them and then roll them up for preservation.

2. Handscroll: It is a kind of banner in Chinese painting mounting. Handscroll is characterized by its long range, so it is also called "long scroll". Different from scrolls, hand scrolls can be read sequentially in your hand, which is more convenient to carry and display.

3. Hanging picture: it is a decorative picture, made of wood, resin, plastic and other materials. Hanging pictures are directly used to decorate and beautify the environment, so they are slightly different from the art forms that need to be viewed, such as scrolls and hand scrolls. Hanging pictures can be hung on walls, furniture or other indoor spaces as a part of space decoration.

To sum up, scrolls, hand scrolls and hanging pictures are different in the presentation, appreciation and use of works of art.
