Listening to Mr. Yang Saifeng's calligraphy class, students always exclaim, which is due to Mr. Yang's profound research and unique understanding of calligraphy.
Calligraphy is a very abstract art, which consists of stippling, structure and composition, and only uses pen, ink and paper. As an art, we should use such simple tools and materials to express our feelings, that is to say, we should use these simple tools and materials to shape the "image" of calligraphy, and then achieve the "meaning" of calligraphy aesthetics, which just shows the difficulty of calligraphy creation and the high requirements for calligraphers. This is also the fundamental reason why China's calligraphy has been attracting China literati and social elites for thousands of years.
After years of study, Teacher Yang has understood the true meaning of calligraphy. First of all, his understanding of calligraphy broke the boundaries of calligraphy itself. He set up a channel between calligraphy and nature, and between calligraphy and daily life, so that calligraphy lovers with different knowledge structures can easily understand the profound theory of ancient sages' calligraphy theory with their own life experiences. For example, for the similarity of calligraphy lines, Mr. Yang thinks that rows of similar lines are like a comb, which makes people feel dazzling. If there is a break in the middle of the comb, then many comb teeth will turn a blind eye and only see the broken gap. The lines of calligraphy are to create different "gaps".
Secondly, when it comes to blank space in cursive script, Mr. Yang compares calligraphy works to a house. The brightness of the house is determined by the size of the window. The blank space in the word is the window of the room, and the shape of the blank space in the word also conforms to people's aesthetic characteristics of the curve-some are like earrings, some are like water drops, and some are just enough to fit into a finger's stomach.
Thirdly, regarding the movement of lines in the process of writing, that is, the meaning of seal script, Teacher Yang said that lines look as calm as the sea, but their operation process is not as calm as the turbulent waves on the seabed. When talking about the brush walking on paper, Mr. Yang said that the pen is like a plow, and the resistance is great; When it comes to composition, Teacher Yang uses sleet weather, clouds in the blue sky, or sand in a big bag of stones as an analogy.
Fourthly, regarding the rhythm of calligraphy, Teacher Yang said that calligraphy without the rhythm of calligraphy is like talking without pause, which makes the speaker tangled and the listener tangled, and so on. The metaphor is vivid and interesting.

Tao is natural. Teacher Yang can enter calligraphy with his head down. As a teacher, he enjoys the noble quality of art with others, which makes him always patiently explain and demonstrate to students. He often explains, analyzes and demonstrates. When it comes to the key changes of the pen tip, he can't help pointing his finger directly at the pen tip full of ink, so that students can see the front side clearly. Sometimes the pen tip with ink is slightly twisted by hand to show the change state of the front hair when the pen tip runs. In a calligraphy post, Teacher Yang will analyze the writing style, character style, style and composition word by word, line by line and sentence by sentence. He can go deep into the inside of the word and extend to the weather outside the word. He pays special attention to students' understanding and mastery of the situation, lest anyone fall behind. In order to make students memorize French posts more and faster, he tried his best. I remember when he analyzed the book spectrum, he said that the words in the book spectrum were roughly divided into three categories, namely "old plum buds, new buds and flowers", which were drawn on the blackboard with charts.
This responsible and frank attitude towards students is like a dialogue between Confucius and his disciples. Zi Yun said, "Did Ersanzi take me as a secret?" I have no hidden feelings. I have no lines, and I have two or three sons. This is Ye Qiu. "
I remember when Teacher Yang was talking about cursive script, he said that cursive script is an inclusive and comprehensive text. If seal script, official script, Han bamboo slips and Cao Zhang are combined into a towering tree, then cursive script is the projection of this tree. After listening to this lesson, I wrote in my notes: Teacher Yang Saifeng is knowledgeable and a running script, which is extremely inclusive.
The study life ended in a blink of an eye. For us calligraphy lovers, every class of Teacher Yang is a spiritual feast.
