Why is Lu Yu revered by later generations?

Lu Yu was born in 755 AD and died in 804 AD. He was born in Fuling (now Tianmen City, Hubei Province). Lu Yu had a rough life and was abandoned under a small stone bridge when he was a child. Fortunately, he was brought back by Master Zhiji and grew up in a temple. In the temple, he learned to read and write, to chant scriptures and to make tea. He loved tea all his life and was good at tea ceremony, poetry and calligraphy. With his personality and rich knowledge of tea science, he is very famous in both the government and the public. The imperial court twice worshipped Lu Yu as "Prince's Literature" and "Taichang Temple's Best Wish".

The writing process of Lu Yu's Tea Classic lasted nearly 30 years. After several stages, such as learning tea, tasting spring tea, traveling for postgraduate entrance examination, concentrating on writing books and supplementing materials, this epoch-making masterpiece was finally completed. Lu Yu, with his profound knowledge of tea science and superb tea-making skills, has won a high reputation by integrating Buddhism, poetry and books.

Lu Yu is good at tea ceremony, and wrote the world's first monograph on tea studies-Tea Classic, which has made outstanding contributions to the development of tea industry in China and the world, so Lu Yu is also called "Cha Sheng" by later generations.
