Ding Jifu, formerly known as Ding Shouqian, was born in Qi 'an Town, Nantong County, Jiangsu Province. Born in the thirty-third year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (1907), 1984 died in Nanjing at the age of 77. His ancestors were engaged in agriculture and his family was poor. Ji Fu was smart and studied hard when he was a child. When he entered the new school, he got up every day before dawn, and he had to finish reading Chinese before dawn, and then he learned calligraphy, no matter whether it was cold or hot, he never slacked off. Before copying calligraphy posts, Ji Fu must first read the posts and memorize their structure and brushwork, and then copy them on his desk, which is extremely serious and neat. After writing, he will compare it and show it to the teacher. He also likes Chinese painting. Whenever the flowers and trees on campus come to sandy season, he uses his spare time to sketch flowers.

The life of the character

After graduating from primary school, I entered Tongzhou Normal University, joined the school's epigraphy, calligraphy and painting research society, and often listened to the teachings of painter Li Kuli, practicing calligraphy and painting more tirelessly, thus making great progress in my studies. 1935 entered the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts for further study with excellent academic performance, majoring in western painting, taking China seal cutting as an elective, and studying under _, Zhu Wenshao and Professor Fang. Graduated from Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, applied to teach in Nantong Junior High School (located in Jinsha) as an art teacher. 1937 Japanese troops invaded China, and Nantong fell the following year. He resolutely joined the Anti-Japanese National Salvation Team. From 65438 to 0940, he participated in the political construction and food supply of the anti-Japanese democratic government. Since then, I have been working and fighting in the liberated areas. 1949 was ordered to cross the river south to work in Jiangnan New District.

1958, Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts moved to Nanjing and changed its name to Nanjing Art Institute. 1984, Ji Fu transferred to this school until his death. In the meantime, he served as member of the Party Committee of Nanjing Art Institute, director of the college office, secretary of the Party branch of the Department of Fine Arts, and head of the department. He always adhered to the practice of teaching and art research and was promoted to associate professor. Ji Fu is also a member of China Artists Association, China Calligraphy and Painting Association, Jiangsu Artists Association, vice chairman of Jiangsu Calligraphy and Painting Association and director of Jiangsu Foreign Literature Federation.

Style of works

draw

Ding Jifu's paintings have their own unique style, ink color and integration. His representative works include the traditional Chinese painting Sunset Everywhere in the Mountain and the large-scale landscape painting "Mountains and Mountains". His splash-ink landscape painting "Scenery of the South China" not only uses the traditional rubbing technique, but also successfully tries the innovation of Chinese painting. His sketches of flowers such as spring, plum, orchid, lotus, chrysanthemum and Chinese rose are very skillful, especially his "Long Orchid", which uses bright colors such as pink, magenta, rose and crimson. Casually dyeing flowers is a kind of freehand brushwork of the late Qing painting school. He wrote the inscription "Looking at flowers, always thinking about planting flowers"

calligraphy

His calligraphy is vigorous and straightforward, vigorous and simple, and he is proficient in calligraphy, calligraphy and official seals. The styles of the works are banners, banners, nave and couplets, all of which are extremely exquisite. Representative works include the running script couplet "Breaking the old customs for thousands of years, creating a new style for a generation", the cursive script "Ode to a Wanderer" and the official script couplet "Road to Wan Li, Great achievements will last forever", which are deeply loved by calligraphy lovers. The Japanese book Interview with China also selected his excellent calligraphy and seal.

Jinshi seal cutting

His lithograph seal cutting is indeed "the most extraordinary and unique, and it is a piece of cake." He studied seal script all his life, studied the calligraphy of Deng and Wu Xizai in Qing Dynasty, and was influenced by famous contemporary artists such as Wu Changshuo, Qi Baishi and Zhao. He integrated the strengths of various schools and formed his own unique style. His masterpieces include long live the motherland, Yang's Bamboo Painting Seal, Jieran, and In Memory of Bethune carved by Bai for Canadian friends and other foreign friends. The book Selected Modern Seals, edited by him, was praised by Comrade Chen Yi and signed by him. The seal script he wrote in his early years has become a mentor and friend of seal cutting lovers, and is also deeply loved by readers.

Modern style

Ji Fu was always modest and gained a good reputation in his later years. But he became more diligent in his studies and more rigorous in his creative attitude.

He is over 70 years old, suffering from emphysema and stumbling, but he still works at his desk and continues to explore seal cutting. His family advised him to take care of himself and pay attention to rest. He said with emotion: "People are always old and can't learn. If you have problems, you must study hard! "

Although Ji Fu has worked in other places for many years, he always misses his hometown. At the beginning of liberation, he heard that "Qianzhen established a cultural station", that is, more than 100 books were sent from Jiangnan. After that, they kept in touch with each other until the "unprecedented" catastrophe came. From June 65438 to June 0983, I returned to my hometown of Nantong, where I had been away for many years, and held a personal painting and calligraphy exhibition. Leading cadres of the party and government in Nantong and people from all walks of life attended the opening ceremony. Jiangsu Artists Association, Jiangsu Calligraphy Association, famous Shanghai painters, sichuan fine arts institute Guan and Zhong Zhenzi of Hai 'an Federation of Literary and Art Circles also sent telegrams to express their warm congratulations. Gifford was particularly excited when he met his neighbors in his hometown. He said: "This is a good opportunity to report to my hometown elders. I hope everyone will make more criticisms and suggestions. " Although I don't talk much, I am sincere. At the end of the exhibition, he personally selected three volumes of China's paintings and calligraphy works and presented them to Nantong Museum for collection.

At the end of the exhibition, he deliberately returned to his hometown, saw the small streets of Qian Town, talked about the local feelings, and showed unspeakable nostalgia.

After he returned to Nanjing from Qi 'an Town, he died in 1984 in just one and a half years.
