In Song Dynasty, there was a scholar named Uncle Chua, who wrote a good article. He is well-read and knowledgeable, and has a large collection of books and historical treasures.
At that time, Wen Yanbo was the military attache of Chang 'an. He heard that Uncle Chua's family had a copy of the preface to the holy teachings written by Chu Suiliang, a famous calligrapher in the Tang Dynasty, so he went to Uncle Chua's house to ask for it himself. Uncle Chua readily agreed to lend the precious copybook to Wen Yanbo.
Wen Yanbo took the copybook home, enjoyed it again and again, read it again and again, and couldn't put it down. He simply let his disciples copy it.
On this day, Wen Yanbo gave a banquet to entertain the staff, subordinates and several friends. Everyone drinks and chats, with a loud voice and strong interest. Wen Yanbo asked his family to take out two Prefaces to the Holy Teaching with the author's name on them. Wen Yanbo asked the guests to identify the authenticity of these two Prefaces to the Holy Teaching. Those guests all gave thumbs up and touted the authenticity and preciousness of Wen Yanbo's copy. Instead, they pointed to Uncle Chua's collection and said it was fake.
At that time, Uncle Chua was also present. Seeing this scene, he didn't say a word of defense, but smiled and said to Wen Yanbo, "Today, I realized my low status."
Wen Yanbo laughed, and all the guests at the table were flushed and ashamed.
Uncle Chua gently satirized the snobbish guests. Master Wen Yanbo felt the same way with Uncle Chua from the bottom of his heart, so he also smiled, which was also a mockery of those in favor.
