Wang Xizhi (321-379, 303-361, 307-365) was a calligrapher of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. The courtesy name is Yishao, and he was born in Linyi, Langxie (now Shandong). He was born into a noble family and was the nephew of Director Wang. He rose to the rank of General of the Right Army, and was known as Wang Youjun. I learned calligraphy from my uncle when I was young, and later from Mrs. Wei. I saw the calligraphy of many famous calligraphers since the Han and Wei dynasties. I learned Zhang Zhi's cursive calligraphy and Zhong Yao's formal calligraphy. I was good at Li, Cao, Zheng and Xing styles. I learned from all the strengths and prepared various styles. It got rid of the writing style of Han and Wei Dynasties and became its own style. The writing style is open and bright, and the structure is rigorous. The main script is "Lanting Preface"; the running script is "Fengju"; the cursive script is "Chu Mu Tie"; the regular script "Huang Ting Jing" and "Le Yi Lun" are the best. Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty regarded it as a national treasure and called on the world to copy his calligraphy. His calligraphy became the authentic calligraphy style that replaced the calligraphy of the Han and Wei dynasties. His calligraphy is known as "floating like floating clouds, powerful as a frightening dragon", "iron calligraphy with silver hooks, unparalleled in ancient and modern times", and later generations revered him as the "Sage of Calligraphy". No original work has survived, and all that have been handed down are copies. Basically it doesn’t matter, the dynasties are very different
