After the liberation of Guangzhou, he served as deputy director, deputy mayor and mayor of Guangzhou Military Commission, deputy secretary of the municipal party committee and secretary of the secretariat, the second, third, fourth and fifth vice-chairmen of Guangzhou Municipal People's Congress Consultative Committee (predecessor of Guangzhou CPPCC), and the standing committee member and deputy governor of Guangdong Provincial Committee. Zhu Guang is a talented poet. His poems such as Good Guangzhou and Song of the Pearl River, as well as his urban construction ideas of "greening long dikes and beautifying Guangzhou" and "building Guangzhou into an industrial base in South China" left a deep impression on the people of Guangzhou.
