Wu Xiaoru was originally from Jingxian County, Anhui Province, and was born in Harbin on September 8th, 1922. I have been in love with opera since I was a child, and I learned to write drama reviews at the age of thirteen or fourteen. Wu Xiaoru has profound attainments in Peking Opera, and has published monographs such as Wu Xiaoru Opera Literature Annals and An Overview of Peking Opera Schools. He is the eldest son of Wu Ruyu, a famous calligrapher and poet, and a disciple of Yu Pingbo. Wu Xiaoru, Liu Zengfu and Zhu Jiajin are also called the "three saints" of Peking Opera criticism. Liu Zengfu and others believe that Wu Xiaoru faithfully recorded the golden age of China's opera with his words and deeds, and represented the character of an era scholar.
