Does paper have a great influence on hard pen calligraphy?

I once asked this question with several friends who are good at hard pen calligraphy. They agree that the quality of paper has a great influence on hard pen calligraphy, not only the quality of paper but also the quality of hard pen has a great influence on calligraphy. For a person who has a certain foundation of hard pen calligraphy, if the quality of paper and hard pen is average, he can also create calligraphy, but the calligraphy written in this way only has the beauty of stroke form, but lacks the beauty of expression, so the calligraphy written in this way lacks the beauty of agility, just like a person who lacks an interesting soul and looks unremarkable.

In fact, when we write with a hard pen, we have an expected effect in our mind when we write each stroke.

To give a simple example, for example, when we write a pen horizontally, before the pen tip touches the paper, our minds have already planned the starting position, receiving position, inclination and even thickness of the pen.

As for whether the writing effect can reach our expected effect, on the one hand, it depends on the writer's own calligraphy foundation, on the other hand, it depends on the quality of paper and hard pen. This is why the words written by the same person with different pens and papers look different.

I take the gel pen in hard pen as an example to illustrate the influence of the quality of paper and pen on calligraphy. There are mainly two kinds of paper, one is paper with rough surface and slightly hard texture, and the other is paper with smooth surface and soft texture.

For example, some inferior printing paper belongs to the first case. The surface of this kind of paper is actually rough and rough, which is relatively dry and hard. Using a hard pen on this kind of paper not only causes great resistance when writing, but also has strong water absorption, which will affect the writing process.

People who write often can't do it with ease, that is, they use great strength to write, and the written words will appear stiff, and the transition and turning between strokes will appear unnatural and inflexible, although the written words are tangible and lifeless.

Ordinary label paper belongs to paper with smooth surface and soft texture. This kind of paper has a smooth surface, looks oily and has little water absorption. When writing on this paper with a hard pen, there is not only no resistance.

Moreover, there is water between the pen tip and the paper in the writing process, which is very conducive to the consistency of writing, so that the writer can be more handy and the written words look elegant and smart.

Taking two kinds of specific papers as examples, this paper analyzes the influence of paper quality on hard pen calligraphy. In fact, there are many kinds of paper now, and the texture of each kind of paper is different, but the influence of paper on hard pen calligraphy can still refer to the analysis in this paper. Of course, each writer's experience may be different, and I look forward to hearing your opinions.
